Style: Barrel-Aged Wild Ale Availability: Limited, 750 mL Bottles Only Locations: Try our Beer Finder Boulevard's Love Child Series of "wild" ales are barrel-aged with such boisterous cultures as Lactobaccillus and Brettanomyces. These wayward offspring can prove so complex that we employ gauges on the label to convey the intensity of three key personality traits, Funk, Sour, and Fruit, presenting a picture of the ale at the time it was released. It will change as it ages, but don't we all? Love Child No. 6 is composed of multiple vintages of a strong Belgian-style blonde ale that has been resting in wine barrels and stainless steel vessels. This release features soft lactic acidity punctuated with very slight acetic notes and a tart, fruity flavor. Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

Pours clear, dark amber with a thick but effervescent buff head. Sour apple is the main player in the aroma, while malt and yeast and pear provide backup notes. Flavor presents a subdued sourness rather than make-you-discover-new-facial-muscles tartness, fruity and yeasty with malty and even woody undertones. Mouthfeel delivers firm body and good fizz. Love this child!

750 ml bottle, batch L110615-2, best by 11-2017. Pours slightly hazy copper gold with a very small head that quickly goes to a thin collar.

The aroma is some fruity brett with a lot of lactic acidic sourness.

The flavor is very sweet and tart fruit with lots of lactic sourness. It's pretty acidic with a little bandaid. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, a nice sour. I'd prefer more brett and funk to the sweet and acidic lactic sourness.
