This September Wellington Brewery will be marking a craft brewing milestone by becoming Canada's first independently owned microbrewery to celebrate 30 years. In honour of this historic occasion the brewers at Wellington have created a unique limited edition commemorative beer that will be released to coincide with their anniversary celebrations. This small-batch commemorative ale is a blend of two unique beers specially crafted to mark our 30th anniversary. We took a malt-forward ale brewed with elderberries and aged it for 3 months in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Over time this traditional English style ale develops oak and smoky vanilla notes that complement the rich malt flavours of dark fruit and raisin. We then blended this barrel-aged beer with a dry-hopped imperial golden ale infused with heather tips. This imperial golden ale contributes floral and aromatic hop flavours to create a captivating and unique beer. This beer can be enjoyed fresh or cellared for future enjoyment.

Pours a golden-amber colour with very tiny particles through it. Frothy light-beige head with good retention and lots of lacing. Also lots going on in the aromas. All well-blended with notes of berries, mint, coffee, caramel and hints of vanilla-smoke from the bourbon barrels. The taste has some mild bitterness added to this. Light warming alcohol with some smooth darker malts. All very drinkable, so quite a nice stronger anniversary ale. Happy 30th !!
