Stamp Hammer Oak Aged Amber Lager. Stamp Hammers were used in logging days of yore to make timber marks on logs and lumber. Oak aging makes its unique mark on this medium-bodied amber lager by way of its complex but exceptionally mellow flavour and smooth finish.

Pours a very slight unfiltered amber colour with a warm beige cap that stays a bit, lacing in minimal. At first pour, the smell is weird, kind of horrid. After breathing, it gets much better with really sweet and rich fruity malts. A little too rich, almost like honey. The taste is thankfully not that sweet. More like the weirdness I first got in the nose which is bad hops, kind of plastic-like with mild apple notes. The oak lingers in the finish and helps the flavours a little. Looks like the chemical weirdness gets stronger at it goes. Really not liking this at all.

The beer pours a translucent medium copper colour with a thin tan film for a head. The aroma is caramel, oak, weak wood notes, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is burnt caramel, brown sugar, and weak alcohol notes. This is a miss by Lake of Bays for me.
