STYLE: DOUBLE IPA ALC/VOL: 9.5% IBUS:72 Available in: 22oz bottles & draft for limited time only It seemed no single beer could adequately convey the collective talents of Portland, Oregon brewing legend and Ecliptic Brewing founder John Harris; Luke and Walt Dickinson, the brewmaster duo behind North Carolina’s Wicked Weed Brewing; and Stone Brewmaster Mitch Steele. So, this veritable triad of power opted to brew TWO beers. The first was a traditional Belgian-style tripel aged four months in oak barrels that originally housed red wine, then tequila. It was then blended at a one-fourth to three-fourths ratio with a freshly brewed West Coast double IPA to create this beer. A variety of diverse flavors coalesce into something more unique than any one beer our trio could have conceived.

Rated June 2015. 22oz bomber pours with a crystal clear deep copper body that has thin gold edges and supports a near white head of foam. The aroma offers up cherry and citrus gummy bears, a bit of ripe red apple, a dash of sweet white grapes and then a sweet malty sense. The taste starts smooth and sweet and then it gets into a mix of yeasty spices, red apple sweetness, some raisins and then it tries to climb into a modest blend of citrus and slightly pine hoppiness. It gets to a decent level of bitterness to midway and into the finish. For a blend of an IPA and Tripel I think this has attained a good balance as both seem to be pretty well represented. I’d prefer stronger IPA but that’s me.

Pours clear golden amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. Strong aroma is very hoppy and resiny with an undertone of sour citrus and a hint of malt. Bold, sassy flavor sends resiny hops roaring through the mouth, leaving notes of bitter wood, grapefruit, Mandarin orange, and malt in their wake. Smooth texture has decent body and a fair amount of tingle. Head for points unknown!

An interesting idea for this beer. The base IIPA was decent enough plenty of juicy, fruity hops, the belgian influence comes in with some of the yeasty esthers but is kinda covered by the barrel aspects. The red wine, tequila, and oak are all distiguishable and work good on thier own but they combine to make an astringent/ acidic flavor on the backside that as it warms becomes tougher to drink.

22 oz bottle. Pours hazy copper gold with a medium creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is floral Belgian yeast and banana with some bready malt and fruity hops.
The flavor is banana Belgian funk with bready malt and grassy floral hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, I don't care for the banana Belgian notes and would like more fruity hops.
