32oz mini growler from the brewery. Pours a big frothy beige head and has a dark brown appearance. Aromas of licorice, molasses and vanilla. Flavours are mainly licorice, dark roasted malts and chocolate. Fairly bitter mouthfeel. Not bad.

Pours a real dark brown colour with deep red highlights, a creamy beige head, good retention with some nice lacing. Beautiful nose of licorice with soft roasted malts, all balanced by a nice sweetness. Almost chocolate notes. The taste starts off with a little bitterness, dryness with the black licorice. The roasted and chocolate malts appear in the middle to come back to the start. Smooth mouthfeel. Quite a nice stout with well-blended anise.
