Stone Ruination IPA was the first full-time brewed and bottled West Coast double IPA on the planet. As craft beer has evolved over the years, so too have techniques for maximizing hop flavors and aromas. For the second incarnation of our groundbreaking India pale ale, we employed dry hopping and hop bursting to squeeze every last drop of piney, citrusy, tropical essence from the hops that give this beer its incredible character. We’ve also updated the name to reflect the imperial-level intensity that’s evident in every sip. Join us in cheering this, the second stanza in our “Liquid Poem to the Glory of the Hop.” HOP VARIETY: MAGNUM, NUGGET, CENTENNIAL, SIMCOE, CITRA & AZACCA

Bottle from LCBO. Pours a massive frothy lightly tan head and a hazy golden/amber appearance. Lively carbonation. Big thick soapy dirty lacing. Aromas of bready malts, herbal and floral hops. Flavours are citrus, grapefruit, notes of grass and pine. Caramel and light bready malt in the mix as well. Dry mouthfeel. Nice big hoppy bitterness. I like.

The beer pours a hazed medium gold colour with a half inch foamy white head which slowly recedes to a film on top. The aroma is citrus hops, grainy malt, light pine resin, and some caramel notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour has strong notes of grapefruit, caramel, grassy malt, and finished bitter. My kind of Imperial IPA after all these tropical wimpy wannabees from the last few years!

Pours a unfiltered with transparent particles running through it. Golden-amber colour with an off-white frothy-creamy head, good retention and some nice creamy wavy lace. Fresh grassy hop aromas with some pine notes, fruitiness and mild caramel. The taste is very hoppy, bitter and dry in the finish. Yes, very hoppy. Like an Imperial IPA hopbomb.

Clear orange, off-white lacing foam head. Strong hoppy aroma and bitter taste. Long lasting aftertaste, hop all over. Another best beer from Stone. (Galveston 201705)

Comes out of tap clear amber with a fairly thick, fine-bubbled, and persistent eggshell head. Aroma has a strong evergreen note supported by malty and bale citrus tones. Strong, bold flavor is mainly evergreen, a little bitter, while malt and grapefruit peek through and add to the pleasure. Firm body has plenty of strong fizz. Devilishly good!

12 oz bottle. Pours clear golden orange with a big meringue white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is bready malt with lots of spicy piney hops that are slightly stinky.

The flavor is sweet bready malts and some fruit with a big piney hop bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with light carbonation.

Overall, very nice and balanced, not as abrasive as I remember the original.
