http://www.ommegang.com/got/three_eyed_raven.php Three-Eyed Raven harbors a deep dark brown, almost jet-black color with a light tan head. Yeast forward aromas are packed with peppery phenolics and fruity esters. Despite what you might expect from a dark hued beer, the flavor brings to mind a traditional saison: a light, malty body with a hint of sweetness, and roast accentuated by herbal and spicy hops, yet underpinned by pleasant yeastiness. Finish is crisp, with lingering notes of herbal hops and Belgian yeast. •Malt: Our carefully crafted mixture of specialty malts. •Sugar: Dark Candi •Hops: Hallertau Spalt Select, Tettenang and Bravo •Spices: None •ABV: 7.2% •Available on draft and in 750ml bottles. Pair with roasted chicken and pork, barbeque and other spicy dishes, grilled vegetables, goat cheese and smoked gouda.

Pours opaque dark chocolate brown that lets a little daylight peep through at the very bottom. Tan head is thick and rather persistent. Aroma has a strong smoky, almost barbecue-ish, overtone, supported by malty and fruity tones. Roast malt, fruity, caramel and earthy tones round out a very pleasing flavor. Mouthfeel is firm and fairly fizzy, leaving a smoky and fruity finish. Eye-eye-eye, a good one that will have you cawing.

Bottle - 750mL corked and caged. Black pour with a tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is dark fruity, y7east, soft spice and toasted grains. Taste is toasted malt, light spice, dark fruit, yeast, flowers and soft herbal notes. Body is medium with a strong, bubbly, creamy carbonation. Ends with more toasted malt, grains, dark fruit, spice herbal notes and big yeast notes.

Very dark brown pour with huge beige head and loads of splotchy lacing. Aroma of spicy yeast and rust. Roasted malt, pepper, Belgium yeast, dark fruits and herbal flavour. Medium mouthfeel with a dry finish. I think this beer would be enjoyed by most people although I don't think this is your typical saison.

Pours a huge frothy brownish head and has a deep dark amber appearance with reddish highlights. Thick patchy lacing. Aromas dark roasted malts, dried fruit and earthy hops. Flavours are nice smooth malts, hints of raisins, yeast, earthy hops. Some citrus hop bitterness. Very smooth and slick mouthfeel. Drying sensation on the palate. Pretty good stuff.

The beer pours semi-translucent black with brown edges and a thick foamy light brown coloured head which recedes to a half inch rocky layer. The aroma is yeast, caramel, spices, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is medium full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dark malt, some peppery spiciness, some caramel, and yeast. Ommegang knows beer (or at least Duvel Moortgaat does).

Pours a dark copper colour with amber highlights. The head is huge, frothy, beige and lasts forever, leaving some thick foamy-soapy lace. Aromas of grassy hops with Belgian Ale yeast balancing things over roasted malts. The taste contains most of this with lots of fruity notes. Even hints of bananas in the finish, creating a little tart in the mouthfeel. This is a nice mix between a Saison and a dark ale. Much preferred over their stout (#2) I had last week. This has more diversity.

Sampled on draft at Oak & Ore, OKC. Pours opaque black-brown with a thin tan head and ample lacing. Subtle spice aroma. Balanced with a hint of patent malt and mild peppery yeast spiciness. Very drinkable.

Sampled this one on 4/7. A dark brown, nearly black colored beer with a beautiful foamy textured, beige head rising robustly above. There's some hang time on that head. Splotches of thick film and a moderate ringlet are left. A rustic phenolic nose. Notes of dark fruit, hints of pepper in a bed of burnt sugar dominate the tasting. Light bodied.
