Winter 2015 Release A special beer for a special cause. The name comes from the sharks “Ampullae of Lorenzini”, the shark’s electro sensory organ used to detect changes in electric fields. This American Double IPA was brewed with blood orange, local citrus, and Maui cane sugar. The unique hop profile of Azacca, El Dorado, and Sorachi Ace lend big grapefruit, ripe mango and tropical aromas, followed by a clean, mildly sweet bitterness. At 7.6% abv and approximately 80 IBUs this is a deceptively drinkable Double IPA.

12oz can pours with a copper body that has a bit of a haze to it and supporting a thin off white head. The modest aroma offers up some pine hops and then thin layers of mango and earthy hoppiness. The taste delivers a pleasing blend of pine hops, earthy herbal hoppiness, candied mango and pineapple and then some bitter grapefruit to midway. Amid all of those flavors it gets a bit earthy tea like and then more into resiny hops as the finish approaches. Solid as this maintains a nice tropical fruitiness with some floral hops poking out now and then.

Pours hazy amber with a thin eggshell head. Fruity and hoppy notes dominate the aroma. Boldly hoppy flavor has evergreen, citrus, and subtle malty notes. Mouthfeel has Ok fizz and body. Get bitten!

12 oz can. Pours hazy copper orange with big floaties and a medium creamy off white head the retains well and leaves some lacing.

The aroma is lots of fruity piney hops, but fades quickly.

The flavor is bready malts and some fruit with some metallic hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, was intrigued, but Deschutes Fresh Squeezed accomplishes what I though this would be much better.

Big tropical fruit aromas, oranges, grapefruit, mango, with touches of sweet caramel malts. Body is a deep burnt orange with plenty of suspended particles, the head was thick and foamy but settled quickly leaving some spotty lace. the sorachi really comes out in the flavor, its bright and zesty with a nice long bitter fade. Overall its a pretty good IIPA.
