Hopsta La Vista is one of those full-throttle brews that reminds you to turn down the lights, turn up the tunes, and have a good time! This hybrid IPA is perfectly balanced with the rich, malty backbone of an English IPA and the fruity American hops of a North American IPA. Kicking off its journey on your palate with the sweet notes of honey, malted rye, chocolate, and papaya, it leaves you with a bitter finish reminiscent of grapefruit and orange zest. Medium bodied and creamy in texture, Hopsta La Vista invites you to sit back, sip large and treat yourself to a world of flavour and simplicity. Originally concocted by Longslice co-founder and beer lover Jimmy Peat as a homebrew recipe for the 2013 Toronto Beer Week Homebrew Competition, Hopsta La Vista took home the Silver medal. Hopsta La Vista is proud to be Longslice’s first official craft brew, and will soon be available for at-home consumption in sexy tall cans.

The beer pours a translucent amber colour with a bubbly tan coloured head which doesn’t stick around long. The aroma is grapefruit, light caramel, grass, and dish soap. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was toasted caramel malt, grapefruity hops, and nicely balanced between the two. -

Can from LCBO. Pours a slight hazy amber colour with a golden hue. Big yellow-beige head, frothy, long lasting with thick foamy lacing. Rich sweet nose with the caramel and honey malts. Some pine notes, wood and other dark fruits hints. The pine is forefront in the taste with some decent dryness in the finish. Kind of a woody mouthfeel. Caramel in the background, but covered by the bitterness. Funky looking can. Nice to try once.

Pours a huge frothy beige head and has a slightly hazy amber appearance. Fairly excessive carbonation. Thick dirty lacing. Aromas of caramel malt, earthy hops, hints of spices. Flavours are fairly hoppy, mostly earthy type hops. Some sweet and caramel malt notes come through more in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Easy drinking.

No a bad taste or appearance, but not what I would call an ipa. Aroma of water. Subdued flavour of pine and citrus with malt sweetness. Oh well always good to try new brew's even though it will only be once.

One of those brews that's much, much, much better out of the glass than the can. The ratings change rather significantly if done without pouring. Out of the glass, it does loose a little something in it's appearance, it's worst attribute. It has a very weak cap that dissipates quickly and is bubbly/carbonated, like pop. Just didn't look right. Having said that, it is a highly drinkable brew that starts out hoppy and vaguely nutty, then the nuttiness gives way about half way through to a very subtle wee sweetness.
