Beer Description:
We here at CCB have been fans of Great Lakes Brewing Company for many years now. From their Edmund Fitzgerald Porter to Dortmunder Gold Lager, GLBC consistently releases some of the country’s best craft beers into the market. As soon as we got the chance to do a collaboration with our pals to the Midwest we jumped at the opportunity; and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

Introducing Wandering Pelican Black Ale: This hopped-up American Black Ale has a dark roasted character and is nicely balanced with a floral hop bitterness. You’ll notice upfront caramel notes with a dark unsweetened chocolate and espresso finish.

The story of this beer goes back to the summer of 2013, when the city of Cleveland was introduced to a unique and rare visitor. A Brown Pelican, usually found in Florida and other Gulf states, wandered north to vacation on Cleveland’s Lake Erie coast. Swapping saltwater for fresh, feeding on shad instead of mullet, this welcome stranger made Lake Erie his home for several months and became an unlikely local celebrity. This dark ale honors our courageous friend who wandered off the beaten path to find his home.

Wandering Pelican Black Ale will be released in 4 packs of 12oz. cans on Wednesday May 21st beginning at 6PM. A portion of proceeds from all draft sales that evening will benefit Save Our Seabirds. Save our Seabirds is a non-profit wildlife conservation and education organization located in Sarasota, Florida. Their mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured birds, and to educate the public about nature and environmental sustainability.
