http://shop.innisandgunn.com/products/innis-gunn-toasted--ipa Overview India Pale Ale first made its name in the 19th century. Here's hoping our pioneering IPA can make its mark too. Its fervent hoppy character hails from the unique addition of large quantities of hops at three separate points during brewing. The result is a beer that's rounded yet refreshing, with delicate floral notes and oodles of zesty freshness. Colour Pale gold Smell Freshly mown grass, clean grapefruit and pine trees Taste Rich vanilla from the oak, with lots of zestiness and a light bitterness from the hops Finish Full bodied, but still crisp and refreshing.

Pours clear amber with a thick and frothy eggshell head. Aroma is crisp and malty, not much else. Flavor is definitely better, trotting out fruity and subtle hoppy tones to support the malty core. Texture has average body and not much fizz. If not outstanding - maybe this was not one of their better batches. Worth a fair shake nonetheless.

The beer pours a translucent gold colour with a foaming head that quickly dissipates to a ring. The aroma is burnt wood, grains, and weak floral hops. The mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is oak, alcohol, grains, and vanilla.

Pale golden colour with huge white head. Aroma is a little bit weak but has some fruits and hops in there. Taste is a bit weak again having some distant cookies bread and hops. After-taste has nothing but bitterness so not very interesting. V5l5m5j4k5

330 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original I & G tulip stemmed glass a golden-orange coloured IPA with a one finger soapy and slightly beige foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Low carbonation. Some lacing. The aroma is acidic fruits, citrus, lemon on a solid malty backbone, flowery, roses and violets. The flavour is faint grassy hops, flowery, roses, fruity, citrus, lemon and a spicy touch, vanilla. The mouthfeel is crispy, round, quite thin and mid-sweety; I don't find any oak barrel notes at all. The texture is oily. This medium bodied IPA has a long acidic fruits and light bitter finish. Very refreshing and pleasant. The " authentic IPA from the 1800s " was quite different from what we understand as being an IPA in the 2000s.

Pours a fairly small amount of foamy white head and goes away pretty quick. Has a pale golden appearance, somewhat odd for an ipa. Excessive carbonation. Aromas of sweet malts and piney hops with notes of floral hops. Flavours are quite fruity, some grapes and tropical fruits. Attributes of an ipa are here, yet something is off and seems like it's not a true ipa. Not much of the oak in this one to speak of, quite faint and mostly non-existant.

330ml bottle from Ladner BCLDB. "Carefully aged for 41 days". As opposed to regular aging, I guess. A pour of cloudy medium gold under a lace-producing rocky white head. Aroma suggested some oak, maybe some floral hops as well. Flavour had mercifully less malt than most I&G offerings, actually not too bad. Oak and maybe some vanilla. Okay mouthfeel. Dry finish.

Part of their 2014 Summer Mixed Pack, in a brown bottle. Pours a pale golden colour with a frothy white bubbly head, good retention and creamy-bubbly lace. Very light pine nose with some grassy hops. The taste is mildly hoppy with citrus and grass, and lightly sweet grain malts in the finish. Not a bad brew, which makes sense that it is based on the recipes of 1800s IPAs. Not a today-hopbomb, just a nice easy-drinking grassy one. Just wish I could feel the oak (would be interesting).

Straw coloured pour with a thin cap which lasts till the end, no lacing. Aroma and flavour is sweet. Taste of banana, vanilla, lemon, honey and a little hops. Thin but smooth mouthfeel. Old style ipa, quite bland really.

Grew on me with each sample. Very smooth and crisp. Not like the typical American IPA. Has that UK feel and flavor, with a clear lighter brown/near mohogany appearance. Not much citrus in there, but more oak and bready notes. Sort of sweet for an IPA.

A clear copper-sunshine in color with a big frothy textured, beige-white head rising above. There's excellent hang time on that head. Thick film and ringlet are left. Woodsy, oak nose. Notes of grassiness, rim and wood are played so well. Not overwhelming. Bright, crisp and effervescent.
