In the heroine Atalanta, we see the traits of what we aim for in all of our beers: piquant, deceptively robust, and a bit wild. A tart plum saison, Atalanta tastes of plums intermingling with spicy yeast, and a refreshing tartness that makes Atalanta as good for pairing with food as by itself. Hops: Newport Grain: Two row barley, white wheat, flaked wheat Fermentation: wild sour mash, French saison yeast Other: Plums, cold pressed for us

Buddy from GA brought a single in variety 6-pack trade. Similar to a mild sour, or tart gose without the saltiness. Plum gives some sweetness and color. Has a light and refreshing feel. I had forgot to bring my pint glass, so had to drink this one out of the can. Think I may have him bring me a full 6 or split one, so I can bring home and get a better idea.

Pours an opaque apricot with a thick, if not too persistent, eggshell head. Fruity aroma has a decided sour tone and malty and yeasty hints. Flavor is fairly sour, but not make-you-exercise-facial-muscles-you-never-knew-you-had sour. It is actually rather refreshing, yielding mango, orange and even papaya notes on a bed of subtle malt. Texture is thick and fizzy - you will feel this going all the way down, and it leaves a nice sour fruit finish on the lips. Who needs golden apples to distract a fleet-footed maiden when you have a beer like this?
