Darkness has eclipsed the Woodcut Series for the 7th offering, a Russian Imperial Stout. The thick and hearty brew boasts a rich chocolate malt flavor with a touch of roasted coffee character. The bold base is enhanced by hints of vanilla, toasted hazelnut and oak from the new barrels. Each Woodcut offering is a truly limited edition beer with a unique flavor that comes from select hops, fine malted barley, and our brewers’ careful aging process. Enjoy!

wish lister from CO. I really dug the Woodcut quad, but barreled stouts have not been Odell's forte (otherwise an awesome brewer). Looking forward to this, though, and it did not diappoint. It was just a touch light in color and thin for a 12% beer, but it smelled and tasted so good, you just didn't care. I didn't get any "toasted hazelnut" but there was an insanely complex tapestry of roasted coffee, oak, chocolate, vanilla, raisins, tobacco and a thing or two I couldn't place (probably nuances of the oak). REALLY well done with the agin here.

750 ml bottle, number 06836-13. Pours dark brown black with a medium creamy tan head that retains well and laces the glass some.

The aroma is vanilla oak and some grainy roast and black licorice.

The flavor is heavy roast, some sweet lactic vanilla and black licorice with some alcohol in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.

Overall, an OK but pricey imperial stout.
