Don’t let this Cream Ale fool you. This pre-prohibition Cream Ale is a smooth full flavored Ale that will appeal to your casual craft beer drinker and to craft beer lovers. At 5.8%, this sessionable beer can carry a bit more bitterness than your typical lawnmower cream ale. The added wheat malt gives it the creamy body and wonderful lacing to the last drop. With 4 malts and a blend of 4 hops, including Sarachi Ace and Bravo, this Cream Ale is really how Cream Ale used to be. That’s how we roll! Expect the un-expected from Bell City Brewing.

Second Bell City brew review of the night. Pours a clean rich amber colour with a creamy beige head, good retention and creamy lacing. Fruity aromas with nice malts. Eventually, lots of butterscotch come out. Mild caramel flavours with some decent light hops to balance things. Thankfully not as rich as their Lenoir Belgian Ale. Pretty drinkable actually.

Pours a good size frothy off-white head and has a clear amber appearance. Lacing is ok. Aromas of light toasty malts, hints of earthy and herbal hops. Flavours of roasted malts, caramel, a bit sweet. Mouthfeel is a little bit dry. Has a bit of a rusty like finish. Average carbonation. Medium retention. Fairly average cream ale.

Really no discernible aroma gives way to a thin head but a relatively okay copper colour. The body is a tad thin, a little worse out of the glass than the can. Cloying as well and leaves a terrible aftertaste. Speaking of taste, there's not much of one - not foul just weak. What I can taste is not like any cream ale I have had. Not sure what to compare it to, but it's only marginally enjoyable. It is what it is and that is a miss. Wouldn't drink again.

A canned beer and the can feels funny, not sure what they finish it with but the can has an enamel feel. The beer pours a clear copper colour with a generous thick foamy white head. Toffee, sour grains, and light fruit make up the aromatic qualities of this beer. Flavour is metallic caramel with grains

The beer pours a translucent cream soda red colour with a thin white cap. The aroma is caramel, grains, and light fruit. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is caramel and fruit, with grains and hops in the background. Quite decent for a cheap can of beer! -

On tap@ the Bent Elbow - puts a lightly hazed copper-ruby ale in the glass with a creamy 2 finger cap that lasts and laces the glass. Aroma of toasty caramel, some grass, spice and pear. Medium body, crisp flavourful character, rounded smooth mouthfeel. Flavour has the malts riding up frunt with good blend of caramel and bready-toasty tones, hops are spicy and balance later on, light fruitiness in the middle, goes to drying lightly bitter finish with dusty wheat discernment at the end. This is one of the better cream ales I have sampled, very drinkable and flavourful - certainly could be an approximation of pre-prohibition Canadian cream ales. A good start for this fledgling brewing company.
