Black beer with a ice dark brown foam. Average lacing. Aroma is unique for the style, which comes from the addition of honey. Bourbon and roasted malt combines with the honey to give it an unusual sweetness. Full body with a drying fizziness. After drinking half of the 12oz bottle I could already feel the alcohol affecting me. Strong beer! I really like these Olde Hickory strong beers and suggest trying whenever you find it.

Pours coffee brown with a thin but serviceable dark tan head. Aroma features dizzying roast malt, chocolate, coffee, molasses and caramel notes. Flavor drags you in with molasses, licorice, roast malt, coffee, woody and semi-sweet chocolate tones. Whoa, no surprise this is high gravity - ha ha ha! You’ll think you’re on the USS Cygnus! (Esoteric movie reference.) Thick, viscous mouthfeel has some good fizz. Go beyond the event horizon!

This was top notch. Beautifully waxed 22 oz bottle split amongst numerous snifters. Jet black pour coupled with a walnut colored head almost came across as red in the glass. Wafting aromas of good bourbon and dark cocoa. Intensely thick mouthfeel for a stout at 8.5 percent, kudos to Olde Hickory for masterfully crafting this. Flavors range from chocolate, toffee, and faint coffee are blended superbly with the vanilla and oak that the barrel brings. I sampled this at cellar temp and the flavors really shined. This is a remarkable example of a barrel aged stout.
