As refreshingly crisp as a morning swim in a Great Lake, this brew is crafted with Pils and Munich malts. The pronounced hop character of this golden lager sparks thoughts of sandy beaches and rocky islands. Original Gravity: 1.05 Availability: Cases available late September 2006

Pours from a bottle a pale golden color with a thin white head. Some carbonation is present. Kind of grassy/hoppy flavor with malt present also. Definitely worth trying, but Bells has alot more to offer. I also wonder about the distribution of this one, as I've never seen it anywhere in Michigan for sale, and instead bought a sixer of it in Urbana/Champaign on a road trip.

This Pilsner pours an orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal and grass, some hops. A medium bodied pilsner. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are spicy and a touch floral. Lively carbonation. Nice pilsner. Clean and crisp tasting. There are enough hops to balance the cereal malt. Would make a good summer session beer. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

12 oz bottle. Pours a clear golden with a thin white head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.

The aroma is doughy, slightly sweet malts, with some grassy hops (Saaz?).

The flavor is mostly noble hops (Saaz) that are slightly metallic, but provide more bitterness than expected. A little sweetness from the malt comes out as it warms. The mouthfeel is medium and kind of watery.

Overall, a pretty good, albeit one-dimensional pilsener (not my favorite style).

"Lager of the Lakes" Grainy malt aroma with an easy hop presence, soft and subtle. Pale yellow pour, thin head, and spotty lacing. Looks unimpressive and bland. Fresh mouthfeel, light and crisp. This beer goes down easy...too easy, this is an ultimate session brew. Flavor of pale malt with well balanced hops. Grassy with faint flavors of toasted nuts and bread. Real satisfying lager, but in the end it is simply a nicely crafted basic pale lager. The price tag will prevent me from picking this up again.

This beer reminds me of the way pilsners used to taste a number of years ago. My guess is that the accountants at the macro-breweries had something to do with the disappearance of the rich qualities I was accustomed to, but at least now I know where to turn if I want a respactable, domestic beer of that style. This beer is certainly above average in all catagories, and I'm really happy that I was convinced to try it. Clear, pale gold body with a thin head that leaves a semi-respectable lace. The aroma is a nice combination of malts, hops, and yeast, but the Saaz hops seem to be most prominent. The flavor profile is much the same, with the hops stealing the show, again, in the finish. The carbonation level is very nice, too, as it's just lively enought to keep the palate interesting. I really enjoyed this beer, and I have a feeling I'll purchase more of it in the near future (especially as the days get warmer).

Poured a golden yellow color, ok initial head, weak retention, average lacing. The aroma was Pacific Northwest hops, some floral and pine-like notes, American pale ale-like. The flavor was hoppy with some definite fruity esters (berries), rather un-lager like. Some graininess (the source of the fruity esters?) also underneath. Mouthfeel was dry and carbonated and light.
