Beer and coffee are Seattle siblings, jealously dividing the day. Split Shot combines the talents of Elysian’s brewers with a pound per barrel of cold-infused, Seattle-produced Lighthouse coffee. It’ll open your eyes to a delicious new beer. Split Shot is the official beer of 2012 Seattle Beer Week.

Taps coffee brown with a thin but serviceable light tan head. Aroma presents roast quality coffee, roasted malt, and subtle toffee tones. Flavor echoes the scrumptious aroma while adding a little chocolate and woody hops. Mouthfeel offers OK body, a tad thin for a stout, but rambunctious fizz. Split down and have a crater.

A = vanilla very strong, malt. Very strong. App = dark brown with a med., rich khaki color head, good lacing M = > avg. but a tad thinner than expected for the appearance and pour but very creamy and smooth F = sweet, malty, like a coffee milkshake up front. Espresso comes through strong on the back end along with bitter chocolate. This is a seasonal, limited run brew so grab one now. This is a new 'favorite' for me.

Elysian continues to impress. Even after two versions of the beast that is Old Ruffian, this beer stood out...and at 5.6% to boot! Wonderful aroma of sweet dark chocolate and coffee. Super smooth body. light-medium palate. coffee and roast in the fore in the flavor. A wonderful coffee stout. the lactic quality in the flavor and body compliments the beer well.
