Rock the Casbah! Moroccan Brown Ale is a full-flavoured American style brown ale with a Moroccan accent. Inspired by the flavours of the Maghreb region of North-West Africa, this unique brown ale is made with dates, figs, raisins and a dash of cinnamon. It is unfiltered and naturally carbonated and has all the complex flavour and bouquet of a fine red wine with notes of plum, brown sugar and dried fruit.

Pours an average amount of frothy head but slowly dissipates. Has a dark coppery appearance. Lacing is ok. Some light toasty and nutty malt aromas. Flavours of roasted malts, toffee and nutmeg. Some spice and resin hops as well. Hints of cinnamon. Quite a mouthwarming sensation. Average carbonation. Not bad.

Comes in a 6-pack at the LCBO. Pours a hazy dark amber colour with a light beige head that dissipates quickly enough and hardly any lace is left. Big aromas of dates and nuts. After breathing, caramel malts come out with some rusty hops. Medium-bodied and a little oily. Mild fruity taste at the start with raisin notes, but then, hop shows up in the finish giving this one a nice bitterness. Hints of burnt nuts appear in the aftertaste. This is an interesting brown ale, but not sure I could drink more than one per session.

On tap at Imbibe: pours a dark clear brown with a decent 2 finger cap. Aroma is grainy-roasty, sweet with some fruit and an earthy funk. Medium bodied, mild carbonation. Flavour is slightly sweet without being cloying, enough hop presence to make the fuity sweetness work, the roastiness comes out in the finish where it dries slightly. I like brown ales and this one stands out for its delicate dark fruitinss and light spicing. A good quaffer, I’ll be back for more

The beer pours a semi-translucent browinsh-red colour with a thin tan ring for a cap. The aroma is nutty malt, spices, and fruit. Almost christmasy aroma. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavour is sweet malt, some caramel, and a very bitter chocolate finish. The raisins are definitely shining through the flavour. -

Had this on tap at The Monk’s Kettle in Mississauga a couple of days ago so this is from my bad memory. Pours a dark brown with a good size beige head that doesn’t last too long and leaves little lacing. Weak aroma of dark malt and dark fruits. Dark fruit, nutty with a hint of chocolate and vanilla in the flavour. Medium body with very little carbonation.
