Strong, malty aroma has an overtone of caramel and more than a hint of honey - wild mountain honey? ;) Pours a clear sepia with a nice pale tan head that leaves spotty lacing. Flavor has a nice overtone of caramel and honey, a strong malty underpinning, and a firm woody hoppy notes. Hoppy component is more woody than bitter. Smooth texture has decent body and good fizz. Tasty, if not spectacular. Love the pun!

started out kinda boring and got better as it went. 1st Stillwater i've had that's not some form of saison. this is a malt (and oat) forward amber. nice, if simple. lots of caramel and earth. little hop presence. the apple asserts itself just a little - at first as a non-decript sweetness that eventually makes the beer taste a little bit like a breakfast pastry. i'd have liked it to be a tiny bit more evident, but this was pretty good.
