An extremely rich and complex beer, the addition of raspberries during the fermentation process results in an almost purplish opaque color with a beautiful brown head. Warm chocolate and roasty notes compliment the hop bitterness.

A brown, red tinged colored beer with a big fluffy tan head rising robustly above. Good hang time. Settles eventually into a thick pluff of film and thick ringlet. The nose was raspberry and roasty malt. I thought at this point I had a fruit beer. Was I wrong when I sipped. The raspberries blend so well with bitter chocolate and roasty malt. Good body. Great drink.

Body is a deep dark brownish black with, with a good coating of tan head. Aroma of sweet dark malt with notes of cocoa and coffee, and of course raspberries. Flavor is big on roasted dark malt, with notes of mocha and raspberries, along with a dose of hoppy bitterness. Body is hugely creamy up front but strangely dry on the finish, an odd combo that actually seems to work pretty well here. A big and complex beer and the 9% ABV is hidden fairly well.

My two favorite flavors in beer: Imperial Stout and Raspberries. Now to see if it lives up to such a promise. Strong, smoky aroma has a decided overtone of raspberries. ME LUVZ RAZBURYS! :D It pours an opaque, scrumptious sable with a thick and rather persistent light tan head that leaves some generous lacing. Flavor is - uh, let me savor this for a while, oh, it is just so dee-lish! A sweet but not cloying raspberry core with smoky, malty, coffee, semi-sweet chocolate and licorice notes. I get a touch of cherry as well. So lip-smackingly delicious, it’s to die for! Smooth, full-bodied texture has a good amount of fizz. Widmer, y’all kicked a-- once again! That does it - I’m moving to Portland. :D

Not really a surprise, but as good as I was hoping it was. One of my favorite brews from Widmer. Kinda steep on the price, but worth it once or twice. This is what Lost Coast Raspberry Brown (a gateway beer) would taste like if you replace "brown" with "imperial stout". The raspberry aroma and flavor are at the same level, pleasantly obvious, but more on the back end and not taking away from the beer at all. Adding to it if anything. Nice bitter chocolate and slightly hoppy stout. Very flavorful and aromatic.
