http://www.dogfish.com/brews-spirits/the-brews/seasonal-brews/tweasonale.htm Availability: Seasonal The No. 1 thing Dogfish lovers ask for at our pub, in our brewery and on our website is a gluten-free beer. But not just any gluten-free beer -- they want gluten-free with gusto. "It seems as if lots of folks who have gluten-tolerance issues are pining for an interesting beer," says Dogfish founder and president Sam Calagione. "While there are a few well-made examples that mirror traditional beer styles, there arent any off-centered offerings." For our first new 12-ounce 4-packs in nearly half a decade, we replaced the classic barley foundation of beer with a mild sorghum base. The hints of molasses and pit-fruit are balanced by vibrant strawberry notes and a unique complexity that comes with the addition of a malty buckwheat honey. We believe health-conscious beer drinkers and the millions of Americans who suffer from Celiac disease can cut back on gluten while relishing the distinction and drinkability of this very special brew. Tweasonale is a seasonal for between the seasons. It will first hit shelves in late January 2012 and will be released four times a year through our national network of distributors. This beer was pretty labor-intensive to make, but it was a beautiful process.

Pours a bland looking pale amber with a tiny head that isn't there after you blink. Decent carbonation. Aroma immediately reminds me of fruit by the foot. Taste is both bland and sour. Very manufactured to say the least. Tastes more like a Boone's Farm "wine" than a beer. Very bad.

Golden orange and served with no head whatsoever. Aroma of caramel, bubble gum, vanilla, and a hint of apple. Very sour right off the bat-- strawberry and/or rhubarb-- then sweet and mellow. Something mysterious appears in the nose later that I can't identify. Overall, this is not going to be a favorite.

The body is a golden/ orange color with mild carbonation. The 'head' is a thin fizzy ring, no lace left behind. Aroma is most similar to strawberry kool-aid. The taste isn't as pleasant as the smell, still with some strawberry flavor but mixed with some acidic wine-type flavors. This has a lot in common flavor-wise with some of fruit-flavored malt beverages or wine coolers. Not my style.

I picked this up from the Wine Gourmet in Roanoke, VA. In short, meh. Not my t;hing. It smelled wonderful and looked real pretty but it was thin and too sweet.

This brew is off-centered for sure. Odd combination of flavored that kinda works. I don't know what pit fruit is, but strawberry and honey are present. I'd have liked for the strawberry to taste a little more natural (it smells good) but in the aftertaste the combo of berry, honey, and sorgum is a bit strange. Overall, one of DFHs weaker offerings.

Pours a typical but appealing clear amber with a thin and not very persistent white head. Strong, fruity aroma has an overtone of strawberry. I love strawberries. Taste is crisp, a little malty, mainly strawberry, almost like what a strawberry cider would taste like. A strawberry cider? Is that possible? It is not too sweet, and has an undertone of - must be buckwheat. Texture is crisp and smooth, a bit thin and only slightly fizzy, but this is still a satisfying drink. One of these days, somebody will brew a really great gluten-free beer.

Sampled on 4/1/2012. This gluten free beer pours a slightly reddish amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is malty, fruity and sweet, strawberries and a touch of honey. A medium bodied specialty grain beer. The ‘malts’ are fruity and sweet, some corn and honey. Hops are herbal. Nice strawberry flavors, not overly sweet and the fruit flavor is mostly there with the ‘malt’ flavor, not competing against it. Good carbonation. Still has a touch of that sorghum flavor, but a nice summer beer. Definitely the best gluten free beer I have tasted so far. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is honey, strawberries and sweet.

12oz bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a little pinkish tint. It has a small fizzy white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film.

The aroma is sweet chemically strawberries and floral honey.

The flavor is a mix of chemical fruitiness and vegetal malts with a cardboardy finish. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with fizzy carbonation.

Overall, I don't care for it. Weird chemically fruits with lots of off notes. I've had pops that taste more naturally fruity.

It pours a dark-orange and gold with a very thin white head and no lacing. An aroma of healthy malts, strawberries and cream, oranges and citrus, grapes, some apple, and mild spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rather rich. Flavors of the sorghum malts, light hops, strawberries, honey, orange and citrus, grapes and apples, some bitterness, and mild spiciness. I think this is what a fruit beer should taste like ...

This is not my type of beer and I know the people at Dogfish can do better than this. The beer is a golden tinged amber. A small soapy white head riises briefly above. Settles into a thin ringlet. Fruity-malt nose is not pleasant. The strawberry presence in the tasting is muted by the grains. It is light and carbonated.
