He'Brew Genesis 15:15

Finally cracked this open. Bottled on 9/7/2011...bought around then and have been aging since. This probably could have gone couple years, but still pretty smooth drinking for 13.4%. Seems like a hybrid barleywine and a Belgian strong ale. Lots of fruit in this, figs and grapes stand out, but can taste the dates too. Very sweet and tart (pomagrantes) up front but may be some chocolate malt in there to balance out. Appearance is a murky brown with red/mahogany tint. Medium thick pour and mouthfeel. Wish I had another one of these to age further....may have to hunt down some Sweet Sixteens now!

Bold and sturdy barleywine with an upfront barrel influence. Vanilla and wood give way to a rich dark malt content along with minor traces of mixed fruits and baked goods. The alcohol is barely noticed, yet alludes to it's assertiveness. Finishes warm and full. Lovely looking pour and enjoyable from start to finish.

I asked for only a 6 ounce glass of this beer at the Devil's Den last Friday because of the strength alone! I definitely had to try this after being impressed by the He'Brew I tried last winter in Portland. This one did not disappoint! The fruit flavors from the figs, dates and pomegranates were just perfect with this beer. A bit sweeter than the other two dark beers I had that night, and it was the best by far. Very dark color with a good, tan head, and very complex. Full body and not hard to drink!

A deep dark mahogany colored beer with a big frothy textured off white head. Good hang time. Settles into a light dusting of film and thin ringlet. Bg oak, phenolic nose. Not offensive at all. That oak is melded well with dark fruits and bitting cocoa body. Medium-thick bodied. Some syrupy.

Wow, people take inspiration from some crazy places, but ohh the results! This was fantastic, dark in colour, nearly black. I expected the body to be thin with all the fruit juices, or the other end and be syrupy, and it was neither. It remained a dry, slightly bitter, refreshing B-Wine that was in fact less alcoholic, less intense and less blatant that the average barleywine. REally nice beverage, wine like in complexity but beer like body and mouthfeel. Oak was their, adding to the body and complexity but in no way at all was even really a contributor to the aroma, which is rare and take some serious moderation. I feel like this is a barleywine that got a lesson in manners from the queen or something. Fantastic!
