As winter approaches, anticipation begins for Christmas. This full and sultry ale is sure to warm the soul and welcome in the season. This silky ale is rich, mahogany brown in color with a velvety malt aroma spiked with hints of dried cherry, fig, raisin and plum notes. A full and creamy body offers layers of flavors including a perfume-like wave of intense dark fruits, and caramel-like maltiness. Rich and warming, this complex should be shared among friends in the true spirit of the season.

Dark fruit in the aroma, but I find the chocolate in the flavor and it seems I can almost pull out coffee in the malt which brings porter to my mind, although I'll have to try it again to be sure and update my rating accordingly. I did detected a bit of an alcohol burn but that's hard to cover completely in a quad.

750ml bottle. Pours brown with a huge fizzy light tan head that retains well.
The aroma is pretty mild - some sweet caramel malts, cola and dark fruit.
The flavor is sweet sugary malts with some dark fruit and cola. The alcohol is fairly well hidden. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.
Overall, way too sugary sweet for me. A poor man's St Bernardus. -

It is what you would expect a quad to taste like, look like and smell like. The problem is that it isn't as good as any of the real ones and it's too basic to be anything worth trying when you can get a real one almost anywhere, not good enough.

Comes out of the tap a rich, opaque dark chocolate brown with a fine-bubbled tan head. Strong aroma fills the nose with fruity, chocolate and caramel notes. Flavor has firm tones of chocolate, apple, banana and caramel plus a hint of toffee. Full-bodied texture is smooth as almond milk and fairly tingly, leaving a lip-smacking fizzy, fruity, slightly candy-bar finish. What a great way to raise money for a good cause!

they did it again! another great effort by Sierra Nevada to just nail a Belgian Style. pretty much what i'm thinking when thinking of what a quad is supposed to taste/look/smell like. Lots of dark fruit, chocolate and a hint of booze. Maaaaaaybe a touch of hops. The only thing I really thought could be improved was the carbonation. A little too high, but nothing a little swirling couldn't fix. My favorite of the Ovila line (no surprise as this is my favorite style of the 3) and they nailed all 3. Sierra Nevada continues their fairly rapid ascent from mediocrity (IMHO, of course) thanks to the AV beers, Life & Limb, Old Ale, Hoptimum, and now these 3. Bigfoot and Celebration were really the only ones I was a fan of before...
