Color is a lovely deep honey-brown with a nice thick fine-bubbled head. Aroma is weak but pleasant and malty. Flavor is surprisingly hoppy, considering the aroma; there is a malty undertone along with a nice bitter bite. Smooth, lively, a delight to drink.

pours a dark orange and slightly hazy with a fast fading white head and leaves a little lace. The aroms is a little plum and orange with toasted bread and biscuity notes. The taste is vread blends with biscuit and toasted notes. There's a light citrus presence that brings to mind orange flesh. The beer has a light sugary quality to the sweetness. There's a touch of spiciness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium body with a creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Carbonation is soft.

Had at the Kansas City Gordon Biersch, actually walked a while in the rain just to see if there was anything new on tap from my last visit to a GB years ago, this was it.. . Poured a basic tan, light light foam .. . light maple and some fake honey, and a touch of booze .. . i didn’t like this at all, and at $7, yikes.. but i got a sweet glass out of it .. .
Hey Stan. Did you see that rainbow this morning? - Yeah. It was huge.
    - Eh. I hate those things.. - What’s there to hate about rainbows?
Well, you know. You’ll just be sitting there, minding your own business, and they’ll come marching in, and crawl up your leg, and start biting the inside of your ass, and you’ll be all like, "Hey. Get out of my ass you stupid rainbows." -
what the hell are you talking about?

about what i expect from GB. a little better than the average GB brew because it's a style i like done reasonably well, just nothing to get excited about. for the style, just below average. light earthy hop aroma and good balance.

First sample from Gordon. Maybe a little better than expected. Was not sure if this is true craft or just restaurant brew gone commercial. Still not sure, but the beer is decent. Would not be upset if I got this on tap in Vegas or New Orleans at one of their restaurants. Been seeing 6-packs of Gordon Biersch distributed here, but wanted to sample one or two first. The price seems right, so based on the first sample I am sold. As far as this beer goes, on the lighter side for a bock...almost like an Oktoberfest. Good caramel flavors with a little hops at the end....just enough to notice. Not much aroma. Smooth feel. Nothing really special, but overall above average.

A beautiful crimson amber colored beer with a big foamy textured, off-white head rises above. There’s good hang time on this one. Settles into a thick ringlet. The nose is barely discernable grain. The tasting is sweet caramel. And not much else. It is not offensive in tasting. In fact pretty good. The body is light and there’s some creaminess.

On-tap pint, the seasonal selection at the San Jose Gordon Biersch. Clear, dark copper brown with a creamy light brown head. Some hop aroma with the malty sweetness. Flavor was a bit sweet, pretty well balanced. Very typical of the style. By the end (after it had warmed a bit) there was a alcoholic bite aftertaste. Slightly thin, medium mouthfeel, but you don't want it to be heavy. Good drinkability, too bad time issues would not allow me to try some more.

Too bad this isn't more available -- it is only available at GB restaurants, and it's also seasonal. Nice treat and variation from 'the usual' when available.
