On the bottom scale of the 5 from the variety pack. Very bitter like the mosaic, but even less fruity notes. More pine here, and with the bitter, not quite balanced the best. The single malts were a great idea, but this could use some other hops to make it work better.

large frothy white head tops a clear light copper/orange body what has lovely effervesance leaving nice lace. Nose is not prominent.Ripe dark fruit, biscuit, a bit pf pine. Motuh is medium bodied, slick, with good carbonation level. Perhaps not quite as resinous as the bottle wouldhave you believe. AS with most of the beers in this series its well balanced with enough malt sweetness to mellow the fairly intense bitterness. Besides the pine there are some nutty notes and a hint of citrus. Pretty nice brew and again kudos for the educational value of these single hop editions.

Dark copper pour with a medium sized head. Minimal lacing on my class. Worried I let this sit a bit too long, but, nope, the flavor is still there. Nice sweet hoppy taste with a very smooth finish. This one is standing out to me so far out of the deconstructed series. A brilliant idea by Sam Adams.

Clear amber pour. Tight short cream head. Nice lacing. Earthy pine hops, slightly sweet malts, very slightly floral. Light bitter flavor with slight pine and earthy/floral hops, slight malt sweetness.

Fifth and final of this series, Zeus hops have a more cirus aroma than the others, although there is still plenty of pine, especially in the long bitter finish. Probably my favorite of the series, which by the way is a fantastic concept, kudos to the folks at sam adams.

nice bite to this one. fairly bright and aromatic hops. pine, a little spice, and still pretty good malt balance. another i like better than the regular L48, though it may not have been fresh...we'll see w/the one from this pack.

Pours deep copper-orange with a moderate head that lingers and laces well. Robust piney-citrus to the nose with a smooth, yet slightly bitter, texture to the pallette. Bitterness continues through the flavor with a hoppiness that is intense as well, but nicely so. Well-versed IPA from SA. And with a name like "Zeus", it had better be good.

Sampled on 5/14/2011. This IPA pours a medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head with nice lacing and decent retention. The aroma is piney and resinous, perhaps a touch of caramel and fruity. A medium bodied India Pale Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are very piney and resinous. A whole lot of bitterness, then a whole lot of bitterness. Good carbonation. A very bitter IPA. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is very bitter.
