Also known as Best of Beer Camp #29 Brewed by Chris and Joe DeCicco, in conjunction with Sierra Nevada’s Beer Camp, an American Double IPA that is as formidable as its Sci-Fi monster namesake. Ghidorah is golden-amber in color, with a pronounced hop-forward presence. Grassy, resinous, and citrus peel dominate the aroma. It has significant malt body, which adds balance to the beer, but the malt quickly subsides toward a firm bitter finish.

Rating from 2011. Had as Beer Camp #29. Aroma is fairly hoppy and earthy with a yeasty undertone. It pours a clear yellow amber with a fairly thick and fluffy white head that leaves a little lacing. Flavor is hoppy to the point of evergreen, and has a subtle sweet fruity underpinning plus some woody and earthy hints. Lively, fizzy texture leaves a nice buzz in the mouth and on the lips.

12oz bottle. Pours a hazy golden orange with a medium creamy head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is pretty subdued for a DIPA - some sweet grainy biscuit malt and crystal malt and a little floral cascade hops.

The flavor is sweet biscuity malt and a touch of fruit with a good amount of oily harsh bitterness in the finish but not much hop flavor. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a big disappointment from Sierra Nevada. Very subdued in the nose, with a lot of plain bitterness with no good hop flavor. I've made better DIPAs than this.

Solid performer! Thanks, Jay - pours medium amber with a moderate head - good retention and excellent lacing. Bold floral and citrus nose that translates well to the pallette. Bitter, but clean finish. Nice.

    12oz bottle -

Part of the Beer Camp 12-pack. Tons of citrussy hops. Reminds me of citrus rind and the bitterness associated with that. The sweetness keeps things restrained and what should be a showcase of hops, winds up playing nicely.

From jlozier - Beer Camp # 29 Double IPA: slightly murky amber pour with a a fluffy off white head and massive lacing. Piney nose at first, then some grapefruits, with a good dose of malts lightly sweetened, bread-like, earthy. Taste is bit bitter hops up front - piney and slight citrus - then malts to slightly offset. Huge hops bitter linger. This is a big IIPA, no doubt. Not for the faint of heart. Thank you Brother Jayson.

Found the right place at long last. This is one of those times when I wish I knew hop varieties better so I could really tell what is going on in this beer. White frothy head that leaves a ton of lacing around the glass. Strong, biting bitterness, but not in a way that makes my face squish up. Just at the threshold of becoming entirely too bitter to be enjoyed, a brief respite of caramel comes in to take you through the dry finish and slightly bitter aftertaste. A really well-crafted beer. I like this a lot more than the other IPA styles from SN.

Pale malt and a dank citrus-pine yet kind of catty hop profile. Hazy golden yellow pour with a big head and thick lacing. Bitter and dry followed by an overly sticky finish. Stinging bitterness immediately noticed in the flavor. Decent hop taste with little malt backbone to back it up. Tacky and somewhat awkward all around. It's good, but not my preference for an IIPA needs more sustenance.

Pff, English. Who needs that? I’m never going to England. .. . got from the Beer Camp 12pk .. . Pours a maple syrup gold, medium foam, light lacing .. . wow! kinda boozy, but tasty .. .Oh, boy, sleep! That’s where I’m a Viking!.. .. resin and razor honey .. . A nice IIPA but kinda lacks a control function, but the flavour is real fly! .. . .

A golden colored beer with a hefty sized, frothy textured, white head rising above. There's decent hangtime on this one. And impressive lacing of a thick soapy ringlet and lots of thick film. The nose and tasting are all about piney hops. A refreshing, medium bodied smoothness

Sampled on 5/21/2011. This Imperial IPA pours a light to medium orange gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is citrusy, fruity and sweet. A medium bodied Imperial IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are citrusy and floral. Nice balance. Medium bitterness. Good carbonation. Crisp and clean. There is a touch of residual sweetness at the finish. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
