Rich and seductively smooth with complex chocolate and roasted flavors and hints of dark fruit. We conjure this by squeezing the life from two-row pale malts, chocolate and caramel malts and roasted barley. Then we boil their spirits with East Kent Golding hops, and unleash an English ale yeast to feast upon and transform the remains. What emerges is a black deity-sized libation that will be your portal to the dark side. Bottled conditioned for natural carbonation, you may cellar Insidious for several years for additional smoothness…though be warned, it’s temptation will perpetually haunt you.

Pours deep black with a quietly fizzing, light brown head that paced itself to leave superb lacing until the end. Toasted malty sweet aroma with oak that ends with bourbon. Very soft beer on the palate with a drying finish. A fairly simple imperial stout that’s well made. Alcohol really kicks in half way through the glass.

Sampled in a snifter on a visit to the Brew Works last weekend. Very deep black pour, with a thinnish head and minimal lacing. Chocolate and coffee, roasted malt aromas in the nose, with a hint of alcohol. A little thin for mouthfeel, but with good flavors of dark fruits and coffee, balanced nicely with a slightly hoppy finish. Definitely one of the better offerings I've had from this brewpub. Good to see them pouring some high ABV big brews.
