English Barleywine, and an alcoholic one at that! It was inspired by Chris Landis’ winning entry in the 2010 Big Batch Brew Bash homebrew competition. This is a beer that not only will age well, but we are recommending aging it. It is clocking in at 11% ABV and could use some cellaring time. When enjoying it, we recommend serving it at around 60¬∞F. This really brings out the malt and fruit character in the beer (there isn’t any actual fruit in the beer). We were concerned that we had overhopped the beer when first tasting it in the fermenter, but the hop bitter has mellowed quite a bit. Having said that, it is on the hoppy side for an English Barleywine.

Came across as an English style Barleywine with some Belgian Strong Ale characteristics. Not overly confusing, rather pleasant and straight forward. Sweet and malty with a high fermented fruitiness. Still a bit strong to the palate with a nice finish. Nice offering.

Thanks to Lindsey at Specs Bay Area for thinking of yours truly when a freak extra sixer sowed up of this while i was out of town.. . pours a murky dark brown, medium head .. . wow, wow, and wow, fresh this is a beast.. needs at least 6 months to be drinkable and enjoyable.. hot and heavy, like steamy windows in a stolen porn .. . i'll rerate in a 6 months to a couple of years if i'm lucky to determine this beers true value.. they should have brewed this, bottled it, and held it bacf at least a few months- right now it is not that enjoyable .. . raisens, rum and shitty tar.. . fuck.. . Your revolution is over, Mr. Lebowski. Condolences. The bums lost. My advice is to do what your parents did; get a job, sir. The bums will always lose. Do you hear me, Lebowski?.. .
