Each year at the festival of Wood and Barrel Aged Beer in Chicago, drinkers enjoy hundreds of wood aged beers. Goose Island poured this beer at the 2009 fest, and drinkers loved it so much we decided we had to bottle it. We hope you enjoy it as well.

Pours out 100% black with thick tan head. The aroma is sweet and of vanilla. The mouthfeel is thick as mud. The taste is rich and complex and continues to develope as it warms up. However the Bourbon hits you right up front. This is good but not as good as the regular Black Friday Bourbon and not worth the extra cost.

Nightcap at a friendly little tasting. I'm a huge fan of Bourbon County and the treatments I've had so far. This one has a bit of age on it so the vanilla was a wonderful complimentary facet instead of an overbearing scene stealer. All the luscious bold qualities of Bourbon County with soft and sweet vanilla. Would make for a great dessert beer....coincidentally #1900 as well.

Vintage 2010, shared bottle at local tasting. ABV is 13%. Black colour, hardly any head. Intense aroma of concentrated malts and fusel alcohols, vanilla and bourbon. The fusel brings the aroma score down. Intense and complex flavour, much better than the aroma, loads of vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts and bourbon, sweet but not too much.

Bottled@omhpertasting. Quite much pitch black colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is vanilla, some alcohol, wood, roasted malts, liquorice and some pleasant smoked notes as well. Flavour is a mix of the same in a very pleasant balance. Also some mild chocolate and coffee in it. Brilliant vanillabomb!

big thanks to Paul for bringing this to our tasting .. . black, low sturdy lacing .. . aroma of vanilla, burnt sugar, espresso, and magic beans .. . velvet mouthfeel and quite complex, a very fun brew that i'd love to be able to sit with by a fire burning evidence .. . very good stuff! .. . That John Denver's full of shit, man! ..

as with the regular version, a little sweet and hot, but otherwise delicious. not better imo than the base beer, so not worth the extra coin, but very good nonetheless. big on the vanilla, which BCS already was, so i was already wondering to the point of more vanilla. tasty, but ever so slightly sweeter than BCS, which is overkill. smooth as hell, though.
