Inspired by Finnish Sahti, a traditional rye ale brewed with juniper, our Sahti Ale is a hazy amber ale with a sturdy mouthfeel and a crisp and lively “finnish”. Brewed with Pale, Crystal, rye malts and whole oats, our version is bittered with Cascade and finished with Cascade and Amarillo hops. Juniper boughs are added to the mash and juniper berries, orange and lemon peel are pitched in the whirlpool creating a festive olfactory of citrus and juniper notes.

Pours a clear, light ruby gold topped by a slight head that, thin though it is, retains its thinness throughout and leaves slight spots of lacing. Aroma of fresh doughy bread drizzled in caramel, with hints of fresh cut grass. The taste is yeasty, sweet and caramelly, very malty, a little floral-soapy with some lemon and toasty rye. Finishes off-dry. A little spice lingers long in the aftertaste, not really any juniper too speak of.Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a light carbonation.Overall it was ok, not really my speed.

Comes out of the bottle a lovely clear amber with a thick, white, fine-bubbled, fairly persistent head. Aroma is strong, yeasty and spicy with fruity and malty hints. Flavor has a strong spicy tone, mainly cloves, and also some woody hints along with a malty undertone and fruity and yeasty tones. Texture is rather ragged and fizzy, leaving behind a nice spicy tingle.

Had this at the Portland Holiday Ale Fest a few weeks ago. Orange brown color with little head. Mild aroma of spice like nutmeg. This version may have been a special one for the festival, because it said "Sahti Spiced". Medium body. Some banana flavor and clove. I was not thrilled with this one.

Sampled on 11/6/2010. Sampled on 11/6/2010. This traditional ale pours a medium copper orange color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, juniper and orange peel. A medium bodied traditional ale. The malts are fruity and sweet, caramel and bready. The hops are herbal and earthy. Hints of orange peel, rye and juniper. Lively carbonation. A touch on the sweet side and the flavors sometime don’t match up well, but a very drinkable beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is slightly sweet.

Not alot of aroma and low in the foam department .. light in flavour besides tea leaves, wood, and bitters .. . goes down very smooth and is oddly enjoyable, but lacks any complexity, fun, or balls .. least exciting of all lips of faith series, but again, it went down to damn easy! high drinkability! .. ..Hell, I can get you a toe by 3 o'clock this afternoon... with nail polish. These fucking amateurs...

Don't really know what to think about this beer?? It is very easy drinking but I can't pick out the flavors that are on the bottle

Nose was boring some yeast and a bit of bread. Pours a very nice burst orange with some lacy white head. Great carbonation and a thicker medium body with smooth finish. Flavor was slighty sweet but I could not pick out any juniper.I love juniper and was hoping for a very strong showing but I did not get it. I could pick out some sweet rye and a off bitter finish. It is listed at 7.2% but taste more like 4%.

It is not a bad beer it is just a boring beer. Cheers!

22oz bottle. Pours a clear copper gold with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is bready malts and a little spice.

The flavor is bready malts and some rye and juniper with a decent sized hop finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied and creamy.

Overall, not a lot going on. It's interesting to try a different traditional style, but sounds like they didn't really hit the style just like their Berliner Weisse (at least that one was more interesting).
