Based on the centuries-old German style of Berliner Weisse, this Imperial version opens with lemon, citrus and delicate floral tones. The beer is naturally sour from lactic fermentation and a dash of Brettanomyces. Imperial Berliner weisse pours slightly hazy with a pleasantly dry finish.

Pucker Up Boys!! ok it was not that tart but it was very much like suckin on a lemon!
You got to let this warm a bit. take a snort on this sour one you might hit the ceiling when it is right out of the bottle Smells of lemon and some spice and a little bit of alcohol. Pours a opaque yellow a tiny fizzy head that goes away. Medium body with a lot of carbonation and a crisp finish. Tart sour lemon is really all I got out this one. I did not get any brett.. too bad

i'm going to go out on a limb with a comparison here, but this is what i got out of the slightly soured massive amounts of wheat in this beer...wendy's french fries. i tried to get past it but really couldn't. this beer was ok, but not worth the price. New Glarus and Hottenroth blow it out of the water! pretty simple, yet not as delicate as a berliner weisse usually is. no point to making an imperial BW.

Sampled on 9/14/2010. This sour beer pours a light yellow gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head with decent retention and nice retention. The aroma is tart and citrusy, wheaty and lemon. A medium to full bodied sour ale. The malts are cereal and grainy, tart and a touch funky. Lively carbonation. It does taste like a ramped up Berliner weiss, much fuller in body and higher in alcohol. Yet, it still has the light and refreshing crisp taste. There is a touch of apple cider in there as well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean, dry and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly tart.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear light yellow with a smallish white head that quickly goes to a thin collar that leaves a little lacing.
The aroma is subdued - tart sour fruits and some floral spices<.br>
The flavor is sweet and tart and sour citrus fruits and wheaty malts and some brett. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, not very complex but I liked it. It's very refreshing and I like the sour fruits and brett. I think it was a bit better on tap from what I recall.
