Okay, we're busted! We're calling this beer a weiss. It's not. We're suggesting it's from Miami, we've never even been there. Confused? So were we. What we know is it is an American style take on a traditional wheat beer. Rather than a mild hop presence, this baby is packed with Pacific Northwest hops. It's made with a pale ale yeast which doesn't produce the same banana flavour you find in German weisse beers. We also know it goes down smooth and tastes terrific! What's with the name Miami Weiss? It's just something the guys up in marketing came up with. (Miami Weiss was born from The Project X Series of beers)

Pours a huge foamy bubbly head and has a cloudy golden amber appearance. Pretty thick lacing. Citrus, floral hop and wheaty aromas. Flavours of floral hops and definitely citrus. Oranges and light grapefruit notes along with mild yeasty notes and somewhat wheaty but the malted barley is equal in the mix. Nice and tangy in the finish. Pretty lively carbonation. Full bodied. Soapy, chalky mouthfeel with a mild tingling sensation. Pretty easy to drink and smooth and quite tasty.

The beer pours a hazy orange gold with a thin tan head that lasts. Aroma is citrusy hops with a hint of wheat and yeast. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is citrusy hops, peppery spice, and some sweet malt tones. I enjoyed it a great deal. -

This light wheat ale pours a slight hazy golden colour with a white foam head that leaves big chunky soapy lace. Tiny miniature pulp sediments floats around. The nose is fresh with piney hop aromas. The hop is not as present in the taste, as the flavours are mild (being a 4.5% ABV brew). Still, this makes this beer easy-drinking and quite refreshing. The flavours are mostly of grapefruits with the light wheat in the background. Seems to start off watery, but gets much stronger as sips are taken, with stronger bitterness and lingering hops. Kind of an APA mixed with a weizen. A pretty interesting ale.

Bottle: I’m told this is bottle conditioned but I assume this is cask brew finished in the bottle rather than the a cask. Pours a cloudy golden ale in the flute with a solid puffy cap...great lacing. Nice soft natural carbonation. Aroma is unique for a Weizen this has a pungent bouquet of fruity esters mingled with PNW hops; exotic fruits-banana-citrus...light biscuit aroma. Soft mouth feel... biscuity, citrus resinous hopping, dry citrusy finish. Bright flavors but not the fruit basket the aroma promised...lacking spice phenols. I got a couple of these and I suspect as a bottle conditioned weiss it may take a couple more weeks to have all the flavors develop. I’ll sample it again.
