When empirical and creative impulses collide, the result is often timeless. The classic utility-art aesthetic of the coffee maker is an example of design and engineering working in concert. It is through similar cooperation that the simple bitter cocoa bean is transformed into a sweet treat. As scientists, our brewers utilize their materials to exacting standards. As artists, they couldn’t resist the temptation to combine two of our highly acclaimed Blackwater Series Imperial Stouts: Jahva and Choklat. Alone each is perfect, but together as Mokah they are an inimitable expression of two of the world’s most sought after flavors. Enjoy Mokah stout with – or as – your favorite dessert! 11.0% abv • 27º plato • Imperial Stout Brewed with Coffee & Chocolate • 22 oz / 1/6 keg 2-row pale malt • 2-row barley • caramel, chocolate & black malts • roasted barley barley flakes • Jamaican roasted coffee • bittersweet Belgian chocolate • chinook, willamette, cascade & columbus hops

Deep black body with a brown one-finger head. Really great chocolate and marshmallow aroma. Initial taste has a really strong dark chocolate and cocoa flavor. Full bodied that drinks relatively easy. Coffee flavor is very mild and there’s just a slight bitterness around mid taste. Finishes sweet with a lingering chocolate flavor.

Sometimes I wonder if we are doing a revue on beer or desert. Either way, love it. Aroma reminds me of Christmas time sweet chocolate. Flavour is very sweet malts, milk chocolate, background coffee. Should make this into a sponge cake. Sometimes ya chug, sometimes ya sip.

Pours a pretty thick brownish bubbly head and has an extremely dark brown appearance. Dirty lacing splatter display. Aromas are very much mocha, with a bit of chocolate and roasted malts. Hint of molasses as well. Carbonation is above average, with medium retention. Flavours of mocha, chocolate and coffee are fairly strong right away. Alcohol taste comes through a bit. Creamy mouthfeel, almost silky. Strong bitter chocolate aftertaste. This ones at 11.2% abv. Really good stuff.

Shared bottle @ KnoxBeerCrew tasting, my contribution. Deep brown/black pour, thick and heavy, very tight creamy head and tons of lacing. Super rich aromas of dark chocolates and strong espresso, roasted and sweet nose. Huge flavor, deep rich chocolates, rich black coffee, molasses, cream, very smooth and very rich. Awesome beer that must be shared.

Another great product from this brewery that I like, at the LCBO. Now at 11.2% ABV on the front of the bottle. Pours an almost black colour with hardly any red highlights. Great creamy mocha cap that stays up and gives out nice lace. A nice creamy coating tops the brew. More of a chocolate nose than coffee, like chocolate milk. Nice a creamy, silky, oily mouthfeel without any burn. A little warming comes in the taste, with the heavy alcohol, but still pretty easy-going with roasted malt, chocolate, nuts, mild bitterness from the hops and hints of vanilla. Wow !! What a great treat !

from my notes: My first Southern Tier. Love the chocolate flavour. Pretty much I love this beer. The alcohol lingers on the tongue, a little more than I prefer, but the chocolate aroma/flavour and all aroung amazing more than compensates. Coffee flavour is secondary, blending nicely into the finish.

Part of the 2012 LCBO Fall Release. ABV on bottle is 11.2%. A nice black pour with a small tan cap. Lots of coffee and chocolate in the aroma. Alcohol is present in the taste along with a hint of coffee and chocolate. The label says this is a mix of the Java and Choklat. Having never tried either of those, this doesn't make me want to try them at all.

Pours black with a creamy beige head. Dark chocolate and vanilla notes dominate both aroma and taste, keeping the coffee in the background. Very impressive considering I do not like coffee although I much prefer Southern Tier's Choklat.

    650ml bottle
11.2% ABV (as written on the bottle)
King/Spadina LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
    November 2, 2012
Pours a very dark coca-cola colour with absolutely no head. None whatsoever, barely a ring. Aroma is roast coffee, dark chocolate, and hints of vanilla. Mouthfeel is full bodied with good carbonation. Flavour is roasted malt and dark chocolate. Some smoke comes through, and unfortunately so does the alcohol. Looks great, great body, but the rest of it just doesn't do it for me at this price point.

This was much better than the creme brule with a nice aroma of strong coffee and chocolate . The taste almost the same as it smells with the flavor of the chocolate coming through nicely . A high creamy head was on the glass all the way to the bottom. Will get one of these from time to time as a good dessert drink.
