Aroma - lots of orange zest in the aroma, along with a hefty dose of caramel malts. Light pine notes also peaks thru about mid-glass.
Appearance - solid orange body, hazed out with hefty 2" creamy off-white thick head.
Taste - lots of the orange zest/juice flavor coming in thru. I think the malts really add too much sweetness, which amps up the orange flavor. Piney bitterness help to keep things in check but just seems to have too much malts for an IIPA for my liking. More hop flavor and less malt balance would be a good thing.
Palate - medium bodied, lingering flavor, semi-cloying
Overall - a decent example of an IIPA to the general pop I think. Easy to slip into a beer with this much sweetness, but I would like the hops to shine a little brighter.
