Brooklyn Black Ops

750 ml corked bottle, at a tasting with Garrett Oliver. ABV is 11.3%. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of oak, bourbon, vanilla, chocolate, coffee, hints of fusel alcohols. Lovely smooth flavour, vanilla, chocolate and bourbon. Very enjoyable.

Big Bottle. Colour - a very black pour with a huge creamy golden brown cap and excellent lacing. Aroma - dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, licorice and molasses. Mouthfeel - full bodied, very creamy, well carbonated. Flavour - sweet molasses, bitter coffee and dark chocolate. Scrumptious!

Woah! Pours deep dark black as used up motor oil with a small tan head ringlet. Bourbon dominates the nose along with vanilla, chocolate. Flavors follow the aroma - all around very nice and drinkable. Good stuff!

So I drank this with three friends while watching UFC so I was very distracted then when i finished my beer and i drpoed my phone and thought i lost the entire review and there is no way in hell I’m spending 40$ on this again, but here we are five days later and I found the review hiding on my phone. Black, black, brown body with a nice tan film. Aroma is so very mild.... some ash, sweetness almost berry, its good but not 40 bucks good. Burbon is kind of in the taste but faint. Big ash, chocolate, sweet but no flavour to add. What am I tasting???? So much but no names. Chocolate, hints of coffee, why so sweet...... why? How can i possibly consintrate on this review with Overeem and Bigfoot about to kill each other. Soooooooooooooooooo over priced, but dam tasty.

Pours dark black with a creamy chocolatey, very active, two finger head that dissapates nicley, nice lacing to. Aromas center around the barrel aspects, lots of burbon upfront, follwed by dark milk chocolate and black coffe notes, vanilla and charred oak.Flavors are nice roasty notes laced with burbon all with some underlying chocolate an barrel character. Although there is plenty of barrel goodness here I really like the way it doesn't overpower the other flavors, this beer is nicely balanced.Mouthfeel moderate creamy carbonation, velvety with a dry finish that leaves a very nice chocolaty, caramely, vanilla burbon oak aftertaste. Nice Brew.

Second premium 750ml sample of Superbowl XLVI. 2011 version ABV 11.5%. I gotta admit....I am spoiled now after trying the North Coast barrel-aged Old Rasp. This is very similar in style, just not as well-balanced and IMO does not compete. Still though, a top-notch brew that I would recommend, as the flavors are about the same....bold chocolate malt, coffee/toffee, maybe some liquorice. I found the boubon flavor a bit too much, making this a tad overly sweet. Like I said, I am spoiled now and if I had this first would probably rate a few points higher.

Pours a deep sable that is about a flea's eyebrow above pitch black with a thin tan head - the latter may be an artifact of how it was poured. Bourbon alcohol dominates the aroma, which has tones of semi-sweet chocolate and quality roast coffee. Flavor is like a fine mocha mixed with bourbon or brandy - the alcohol tends to dominate, if not overwhelm, the coffee and chocolate. Texture features a rather strong alcohol bite! This one is not for the faint of heart! If the alcohol bite wasn't so fierce, I would have rated this a little higher.

Beer 4 or my 12 Beers of Christmas 2011 - and a long time Wish List item. Wow. Just wow. This behemoth pours a deep mahogany black with a very tight and well-sustained light tan head which leaves beautiful delicate lacing throughout the extended drinking time. BOURBON. The predominant and upfront nose is fine Kentucky Bourbon Whiskey, then some toasted malts, molasses, vanilla, cocoa, very slight coffee and woodsy oak; one of the best aromas of any beer I've ever had. Mouthfeel is just a tad thin for a monster Imperial Stout but everything else makes up for that very slight shortcoming. The flavor is outstanding: again BOURBON, very very good Bourbon at that, then a beautiful blend of oaken vanilla, toasted maltiness, molasses, a touch of chocolate and java. This beer was shared amongst very good friends at a Christmas dinner party after our main course and with dessert, friends who are always willing to try different beers and some of which are loyal craft beer drinkers, and this beer left them speechless. It was a joy to open their eyes, noses and palettes to what beer can be, what quality Imperial Stouts can be; all agreed that this was one of the best beers they had ever tasted. It was one of the best beers I've had also. Pure Bourbon Stout Pleasure.

another excellent bourbon barreled impy stout. i hope i'm not starting to take these for granted, but in all it;s awesomeness, it did not distinguish itself to be among the best. hides the alcohol incredibly well, but the bottle conditioning leaves it a tad too carbonated. otherwise excellent chocolate, roasted, bourbony goodness. 2/12 3rd time and it's dropped off a bit each time. one of the thinner more boring impy stouts in tonights tasting. originally 4.3...then a 4.1...this last one wouldn't quite get a 4 on it's own. consistency issues?
