On draft at The Distillery in Savannah, GA. Pretty nice honey brown color, no head. Rich fruity aroma and the alcohol burns the nose. Hugely sweet with tons of alcohol burn. Fairly yeasty. The alcohol didn’t bother me. It may have been a little sweet, but pretty well carbonated to compensate. Well crafted.

This is my first wheat wine. I will try it again. THis beer pours a nice golden yellow that is extremely cloudy. It has a good head that has some staying power. The taste is that of a pure wheat beer. Due I think to the ABV it has a nice alcohol burn but not over powering. The honey in this beer is definitely present but in a good way although some may think it is to sweet.

Bottle: Poured a slightly hazy deep copper color ale with a rather large foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma of honey and deep wheat malt is quite enjoyable. Taste is a nice mix between some sweet wheat malt with traces of honey without being excessively sweet in a gross way. Full body with good carbonation and alcohol is very well hidden. Way too easy to drink but still showing some great complexity.

A cloudy yellow to orange color with a minimal head. The aroma contains some lemons, honey, and bananas. The flavor is quite sweet with some bananas, honey, molasses, and alcohol. The mouthfeel is rather syrupy. Overall this is good in small amount, typical of a wheatwine though. Good.

Man, gotta love Terrapin for helping to revive the Wheatwine style of ale. This one is part of the Side Project Series. Aroma is very aromatic and very sweet with tons of fresh and sticky honey coming through with some sweet caramelization and has some wheaty nuiance as well with some banana taffy coming through. Appearance is a hazy golden-orange and is similar to a wheat ale or more so a Belgain-style Tripel and has a medium-sized head on top that is off-white and diminishes to a light and creamy lacing that sticks to the glass. Mouthfeel is full-bodied and big with tons complexities you associate with strong wheat ales and has nice balance with a pallette that is smooth and creamy and wet-like. Flavor is of honey and banana taffy like from German wheats with some spice nuiance and offers caramelization you find in Tripels and ahas an aftertaste that is bid and very bold letting you know this one is 11% and has a finish that is a tad boozey but is crisp and clean and of some bubblegum. Overall, an interesting take on this archiac style and is very pretentious to say the least and well worth picking up if you come across this limited, one time release; highly recommended for sure!

This is, I believe, my first wheatwine - and me likes! Aroma is strong and wheaty and has the "rubbery" undertone I associate with good wheat beers; there is just a whisper of sweetness, probably from the honey. Flavor is crisp and smooth, strongly wheaty with more than a hint of sweetness and just a teeny bit of hop bite. Texture is pleasingly smooth, and aftertaste is satisfying. Too bad this is a one-time-only release.
