Black with brownish foam head lacing to glass. Aroma is toffee with (surprise) cognac. Taste is little bitter with some coffee, burns caramel. Aftertaste is long bitter. Good (Velp 201206)

Pours out in a pitch black colour with a small creamy pale brown head. Rich aroma of wood, licorice, honey, burnt malts, black coffee, dark chocolate, port and prunes. Full-bodied with viscous notes of tar, licorice, wood, port, coffee, red apples, figs and raisins. Thick mouthfeel with low carbonation. Long chewy finish. salty licorice, coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, prunes and wood.

Cask@GBBF2008. Black colour, fluffy beige head. Aroma is wood, quite vinous, raisins and alcohol. Flavour ia sweet dark fruits, a bit vinous, raisins and alcoholic. Yet quite well balanced due to the oak barrel aging.

Served from the oak barrel in which it had been aged, at the GBBF 2008. Room temperature, gravity dispense. Pitch black colour, minimal head. Intense aroma of tar, woodwork, coffee, liquorice and alcohol. Intensely roasty flavour with coffee, alcohol, tar, liquorice and dark bitter chocolate. Pretty impressive, but certainly not easy drinking.
