Our PGR has aged for 24 months on oak barrels and has been bottled for the first time on the 27th of December 2007. The main difference with the Pannepot Reserva is that PGR matured the last ten months on Calvados oak barrels, adding extra complexity to the beer. We dedicate this beer as a tribute to Jeppe & Michael of Ølbutikken in Denmark. Those gentlemen were the first to discover our beers on an International basis back in 2004 and are responsable somehow for our beers being all over the globe since then. As a token of gratitude towards Jeppe & Michael, the first shipment of PGR was scheduled to Ølbutikken so they could be the first to launch its commercialisation.

Acquired via trade with Chopz. BB 04/05/19. PNP No.4 vintage 2009. 330ml bottle. Pours a fair size frothy beige head that dissipates to a thin coating. Has a dark murky brownish appearance with sediments quite visible. Lacing is a bit weak. Aromas are strong spice, yeast, coffee and dried type fruits. Flavours are in the same vein but much more varied it's quite crazy. Lots of different flavours at various points like chocolate, raisins, figs, dates, strong spice notes. Coffee in the finish. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel. Slick and drying sensation as well as a nice warming sensation the longer it sits. At 10%abv, very well hidden. Quite easy to drink actually. Pretty good stuff!

Rich ddep brown pour with a short lived head but nice lacing. Sweet ripe fruit aromas and initiall taste, slightly boozy, not cloying but sweet and rich. Definitely a sipper.

Clear dark ruby brown, light brown foam head. Nice warm wine aroma and taste, calvados apparently but I am not a wine drinker. Great beer. (Velp 201504)

Vintage 2009 bottle from a SAQ import. Pours a real dark colour with red-copper highlights and a mocha head that stays a bit, leaving a little creamy lacing around. Lots of dark fruits (plum, dates, raisin) in the aromas with a roasted malt base, sugars and some notes of anise. Pretty much the same for the taste, but not as sweet as expected. Alcohol very well-hidden, but mouthfeel is kind of wet and boring. Complex overall, but not my cup of tea (or glass of beer).

Mild plum and oak smokiness to a mysterious nose. A black cherry type color and the best head retention of the three. Good fizzyness to lighten up the body of such a big beer. Flavor is very mature, almost winelike, most complex of the three.

I received this beer as a freebie from a friend. I need more like this. A brown pour, with a tan head which lingered. The aroma was sweet caramel malt, plums, licorice, and spices. A nice balance of sweetness and yeast in the flavour with sugary notes and malty hints.

330 ml capped bottle. Poured in the original De Struise tulip glass an opaque clody and slight gushing dark rich burgundy coloured ale with a one finger tan foamy head that had a long retention and tons of micro bubbles. Soft carbonation. Good lacing. A lot of floating sediments. The flavour is strong dark riped fruits, plums, raisins, cherries, sweety malts. The flavour is sweety malts, brown sugar, spicy, licorice and pepper, dried fruits, plums, raisins, prunes and a touch of acidity with sour cherries, woody and ended with a noticeable bitterness. The mouthfeel is fulled. This medium to full bodied ale has a long fruity finish, combined with an increasing warming effect. A great tasting BSA. Awesome !

A delightful brew that I had the opportunity to try recently. It poured a solid dark brown with red hues and almost no cap. The nose sensed dark malt, sugar, licorice, and wood right away with some sweet tones later. The taste was a complex of slightly sweet malt up front, and a fruit laden finish, followed by a bitter end.

First, a huge thank you to John B. for bringing this to our little tasting. We weren’t quite expecting items like this...but this will do! Poured out into my Duvel glass a solid earthy brown body sitting under a lengthy light beige head. Perfect temp. Aroma...mmmm...brown sugar, oak, vanilla, plummy, rum raisins...just a smidge of chocolate...toffee....damn. Simply amazing. Flavor has all the perfection of a well aged beer and none of the negatives. Beautiful oak/vanilla, raisins, apples, toffee, dried fruits...just stunning.

this one is quite nice...lots of dark fruits and a bit of chocolate, with a yeast presence that's not overdone...and a bit of booze. maybe the oak mellowed things out a bit. i'll revisit this review when i have the "regular" pannepot. this one is quite nice.
