Intriguing doses of sweet spices, cocoa nibs and pumpkin transform an exceptional porter into a mesmerizing potion. Pour this tantalizing brew into a snifter and experience its many eccentric nuances, which will delight your taste buds. This is the same award-winning recipe that garnered a GOLD MEDAL at GABF in 2007. Formerly known simply as Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter, we’ve named it T.R.E.A.T.: The Royal Eccentric Ale Treatment. TREAT melds rich decadent flavors into an enticing brew that is perfect for pairing with both sweet and savory dishes. Add depth to desserts like pumpkin cheesecake, bread pudding and tiramisu. Reduce this porter down then glaze grilled meats. Mix Moroccan spices with TREAT to marinate lamb shanks before slow-roasting. The options are endless. But the most important step is pouring yourself a lovely glass of TREAT to enjoy with the rewarding results of your efforts. With so many tones and textures to experience, will you find this brew… Demented…or delightful?

Shared bottle from Moderhead. Near black pour, beige cap and lacing. Roasted malt and chocolate aromas, slight baked squash, some spices like pumpkin pie, but very subtle. Flavor follows the nose. Better as it warms up. Delightfully decadent. Thanks Dan.

I wish more pumpkin beers had a porter or stout base. T.R.E.A.T. as it is now known is ridiculously good. A grand amount of chocolate and roasted malts create a hearty base beer that compliments the fresh pumpkin and spice aspects perfectly. Not too spicy and very robust.

nice and dark with a fluffy light brown head. lots of spice in the aroma...clove, nutmeg, pumpkin, cocoa, tons of roasted malts. i absolutely loved the aroma at first. got a little spice-heavy as it warmed, but still very nice. smooth, but thinner than expected for an imperial. flavor is a very nice mix of sweet and bitter chocolate, pumpkin, spices, and grain. not overly sweet, but still leaning towards being a desert beer. slightly more spice than porter...51/49. With a little age on it, the chocolate porter outshines the spices easily.

This was a GREAT beer. Reminds me of those Reese's Peanut Butter cup commercials of the 70s...."you got your chocolate in my peanut butter"..."you got your peanut butter on my chocolate" except in this case it's pumpkin! And believe me, when you thrown pumpkin and chocolate into a beer......it works!

This sounded like a bad idea at first but hey it worked! A black appearance with a beige head. The aroma consists of chocolate, pumpkin, and licorice. The flavor contains a large dose of pumpkin balanced out by the chocolate. The after tastes is somewhat bitter. Oddly this chocolate/pumpkin combo works. Good brew!

This spiced porter pours a dark brown color from a 22oz bottle. Medium sized tan foamy head. Aroma is chocolate, pie spices, cinnamon and pumpkin. A medium bodied ale. Very interesting…. Tastes like a cross between an Imperial Stout and a pumpkin beer. Lots of chocolate and pumpkin flavors intermix with a bunch of coffee and roasty malts. Nice beer. I wish more breweries would make weird beers like this, well a lot do but not many work as well as this one. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet. Again thanks to Chris C for sharing this one.
