Bottled (from Cracked Kettle). Deep reddish amber colour, small creamy off-white head. Aroma is caramel malts, some burnt sugar as well as mild nectary notes and alsohol. Flavour is caramel malts, toffee, mild wooden notes as well as some alcohol and grassy notes. Gets also some dark dry fruity notes as it warms up a bit.

unfortunately, beer exported from Montana, or bottled in Montana, cannot, by law, exceed 8.75% abv, so I'm thinking if the 10.75 listed above is accurate, both are draft. after trying their Smoove Moove Cherry (equally 8.75 and...well...overpriced crap) I couldn't muster high expectations for this one. This led to a pleasant surprise, though, as the body was full and smooth. The vanilla/bourbon/oak aroma and taste reminded a couple of us of bourbon County Stout (which is not a bad thing). It pours a mahogony color with a nice fluffy head, great vanilla/peppery aroma, smooth full body. The flavor is a touch sweet, but not cloyingly so, and fully enjoyable. Better than expected, and put Mammoth's Charleywine to Shame in a head to head.

On tap at Flagstaff Brewing, pour was ruby amber, nice one finger head on top, good lacing. The aroma was grapey, some sweet candy malts, touch of pine resin. The flavor followed suit, light fruits, grapes, malty presence for sure, candied up, vanilla, dark fruits, yet with a somewhat balancing resinous and herbal hop presence. More on the sweet side of things, but shows some balance, pretty enjoyable. Was surprised to see this didn't score better within style. Ah, the heck w/ y'all, I liked it, my kind of barleywine perhaps.

Hazy red brown body with a yellowish head. Some hop aroma that seems to have a ittle age on it. Fairly mellow and light bodied for style. Caramel malt. It burns a bit going down.
