Turbodog is a dark brown ale brewed with Willamette hops and a combination of pale, crystal and chocolate malts. This combination gives Turbodog its rich body and color and a sweet chocolate toffee-like flavor. Turbodog began as a specialty ale but has gained a huge loyal following and has become one of our flagship brews. This ale pairs well with most meats and is great served with hamburgers or sausages. It is a good match with smoked fish and can even stand up to wild game dishes. Turbodog is also great for marinating and braising meats and cooking such things as cabbage and greens. Colby, Gloucester, Cheddar and Blue cheeses go nicely with Turbodog. It’s perfect with spicy Louisiana jambalaya or Spanish paella. Some even like it paired with chocolate!

The beer pours a clear brown color with a thin white head. Not a lot of retention or lacing. Aroma is grass, caramel, light spicy hops, and yeast. Mouthfeel is average. Flavor is caramel and nutty malt, followed by a bitter hoppy finish.

Hard to tell looks, from bottle. Light caramel aroma, but good bitter taste, caramel and toffee tones. Nice beer, but not outstanding. Local and that makes it nice. (New Orleans 201505)

I was surprised at how dark this ale was it looked more like a stout. It had the mouth feel of a ale because it was not full flavored. The taste was pretty good with flavors of coffee and Light malt.

Can't believe that I haven't had this until now. I kind of knew what to expect, so maybe the reason why. Just an average brown really. Like other Abitas, has a slight rusty/sour taste. Feel is just ehh. That chocolate malt comes in mildly, which is the highlight here. The single sample is enough for me, as it's not good enough to get a 6-pack.

This was a brown ale with the personality of a stout. It's almost black in color (http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8240/8560228915_10c4430c2a_z.jpg) with a beautiful light taupe head. I enjoyed the bitterness of roasted coffee, the sweetness of toffee and a bit of malt goodness. I'm starting to gravitate to the brown ales when they taste this good!

This is one of abita's stronger offerings. Dark brown pour with wafting earthy aromas of bread, wheat, and nuts. Thin body with a smooth nutty flavor. All around, a decent brown ale.

It pours black with burnt-orange colors in the light and a thick light-tan head and some spotty lacing. An aroma of roasted caramel malts, chocolate and caramel candies, coffee, light hops, orange and citrus, nuts, and mild spiciness. The mouthfeel is smooth, thick, and rich. Flavors of roasted malts, chocolate and caramels, hops, orange and citrus, marshmallow, raisin and dates, nuts-hazelnut?, and mild spiciness. Great!

I had this beer at a bar in New York City. It wasn't bad. It won't be a revisit beer though. For the brown ale, I'll just stick with Samuel Smith's I don't know why I even venture outside of Samuel Smith's - I always go back.

A nice brown ale from Louisiana, aromas of bread, roasted nuts and some chocolate hints. Flavor is close to the aroma with a slight hop bite. Overall its probably the best brew yet from Abita.

I will say this beer is one tasty easy-drinker. Malty and dark, Sweet and mildly rich. As well as smooth. I'm not the biggest Abita fan, but I certainly wouldn't mind tipping a few of these back.
