Abbey Grand Cru is a richer version of our Abbey, a Belgian "Double" style ale. It is brown in color, with a full body and a distinctive fruity aroma. Abbey Grand Cru is fermented with an authentic Belgian yeast strain, and is refermented in the bottle to produce natural carbonation. The beer should be served cool (not cold) to best experience the rich aroma and complex flavors. Abbey Grand Cru will continue to improve and age gracefully for several years, if stored in a cool dark cellar.

Comes out of the tap a semi-transparent dark woody brown with a fine-bubbled and fairly persistent pale tan head. Rich, malty aroma has a fruity note that is mainly banana with some apple, as well as a woody hint. Mouth-filling malty flavor has a firm banana overtone plus woody, toffee, nutty and caramel hints and a whisper of fruity sweetness. Full-bodied texture is lively and fizzy.

Wish List item. Amber brown with a tall light tan head leaving very nice lacing. Rich malty and fruity aroma, ripe dark fruits, brown sugar, light Belgian yeasts, rich flavor of the same. Nice balanced straightforward Grand Cru.

Ample lasting head, clear beer with a dark amber hue. Dark fruit in the aroma. Flavor is fruity and goes down well. However, beer is somewhat one-dimensional even to the point of reminding me of a brown ale. Overall, a bit under whelming for the style.

Typical grand cru, nothing that I could find special or better than any other attempt out there. All the things you would expect to find, no hidden layers or complexity. You get what the label tells you that you are going to get.

Pours a burn copper, but with a long lasting thick head. Rather fruity, and is a well executed beverage, but unfortunately not a style that I enjoy as much as some others. Should be great for those who like the style!

This poured a dark amber color with a beige head. The aroma contains some caramel, toffee, spices. The flavor is a bit tame with caramel, orange peel, booze. The finish is malty with the booze really showing through. Overall it is decentish.

Nice frothy cap, the body is brown with an amber hue. Aromas and flavors of banana, yeast, plum, candi sugar, caramel malts, and some alcohol. Nice complexity, and well brewed, i enjoyed this grand cru.

Sampled as Lips of Faith Grand Cru abbey. Delicious mahogany color. Sweet caramel and dark chocolate flavors, with some cherries mixed in. As it warms, I can pull out a little bit of banana and some more chocolate. Soft, foamy head of a light tan color. Medium bodied, making for a nice beverage to sip while dinner grills. Good, but nothing fabulous.

Pours a rich brown color with large off-white fizzing head. Lots of fruity banana, spice and candi sugar in the aroma. Body is full and pretty soft. Starts sweet but the finish dries with hints clove. A little spicier than the last Grand Cru I drank by Pelican a few days ago. Alcohol is well hidden. Starts to get some dark fruit hints as it warms. Very nice, rich beer!

22oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with a medium creamy off white head that goes to a thin film that laces the glass.

The aroma is banana and clove with some sweet malt and a little spice.

The flavor is sweet malts, molasses, some chocolate and some lighter banana and spice notes from the yeast with some alcohol notes in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, a solid Belgian. The banana is a little strong for me. I recall this being better balanced on draught.
