For centuries the Scots have been masters at brewing beer. At Drakes we have attempted to honor their efforts. Our brewer Rodger combined European malts and hops to create this ruby red strong ale. Slightly sweet with hints of roasted malt this wee heavy Scotch ale was then barrel aged for 18 months to enhance the intense flavors. So enjoy this as you would any fine after dinner beverage and give a toast to the scots, who've only been brewing beer since 6500B.C. This is a very limited release and won't be repeated.

Poured a still brown color with no head or lacing. Aroma of sweet caramel, smoke, whisky, and vanilla. Taste of bourbon, caramel, dark fruits, smoke and alcohol, with an oily mouthfeel. Thanks Chris!

This Scottish ale pours a deep reddish brown color from a 6oz bottle. Minimal head. Aroma is scotch whisky, oak, peat and alcohol. A medium bodied Scottish ale. Malts are caramel, peaty and sweet. Lots of red wine like character, tannins and must flavors. Lots of oak flavors as well. Seems a touch thin in the mouth, but the alcohol warming sort of makes up for it. There is a lot of port like quality as well. It does seem to be missing some of the attributes that one associates with beer, but its interesting. Barrel aging does some weird and wonderful stuff to beer; this one is still a work in progress. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly sweet and oaky.
