Dogfish Head Verdi Verdi Good was inspred by beers being produced in Southeast Asia, namely Myanmar (formerly Burma) and Thailand. The main type of beer made in that area of the world is akin to the Dortmunder/Export type lagers of Germany. Both Myanmar and Thailand have breweries producing a beer which is their regular production lager with spirulina added. Hence, Verdi Verdi Good was born. Verdi Verdi Good holds true to the Dortmunder style and gains a delightful green color and a subtle organic aroma from the addition of spirulina. Spirulina is a blue green algae prized for its high nutritional protein content.

Poured a bright green color with a medium sized, white head with greenish tints, and light lacing left on the glass. Aroma of crystal malts, light citrus fruits, a touch vegetal, some toffee malt, and light yeastiness as well. Taste of grains, big doughy malts, an earthiness, some more citrus, and a low bitterness. There was a somewhat unpleasant finish, and besides the strange green color, it was pretty solid overall.
