An American strong ale that didn't seem all that strong and was dangerously flavourful. A weak reddish-gold, clouded, with a cream coloured head. Sweet malt, a little honey and citrus make up the nose while the citrusy notes dominate the flavour. Alcohol is well hidden.

Comes out of the tap a hazy honey golden with a fluffy off-white head. Aroma has a strong honey-sweet overtone of honey with a malty core and a hoppy hint. Flavor is mainly honey with a malty note and a whisper of butterscotch. Smooth texture is fairly thick and subtly tingly. Not Rogue’s best, but worthy of a try!

A special brewing of the beer had at the brewery in july '07... Lt. Orange color, It had some Tripel like qualities, citrus and apricot, sweet fruits and herbs. Mouthfeel was heavy and somewhat dull, just not interesting, which i thought threw the beer off also that it was a little cloying

Served on tap at Fathers Office, September 2007
This beer is a brilliantly clear, dark reddish tinged, copper color. It is topped by a frothy, initially one and a half finger thick, tan colored head that even leaves a touch of lacing on the sides of my glass. The aroma is quite muted, even a bit murky or even musty. After some digging I start to get some malt aromatics of toasty, biscuit-like grain, and caramelized bread. Touches of hops (leaning towards the citrus sides of things) round out the aroma, but mostly I am really disappointed, even confused by how lackluster and muddy the aroma is.

The tastes I much better than the aroma would have suggested; it is quite a bit hop focused than the mostly malt focused aroma too. The hop notes are a mix of menthol like pine notes and candied citrus zest flavors. The finish has a nice biting bitterness to it that lingers on with a slight astringency and even a almost refreshing menthol like notes. Overall this beer is quite good, the flavor really saves this beer as it would be quite a dud based on the aroma.

Hazy amber with a good head. There is a slight citrus and floral quality to the aroma. There's a bit of apple in the mild maltiness of the flavor. Tea comes through in the finish.

Brick red pour with a good sized head. Floral nose with some faint citrus. Very enjoyable brew. Medium bodied with good balance. Malts dance superbly with the hops. Some tropical fruit mixing with peaches and apricots. All around nice beer.

Poured a lightly hazy, amber color with a small off white head that left brilliant lacing on the glass. Aroma of toffee malt, citrus fruits, and berries. Taste of piney hoppiness, watermelon, caramel malts, light peppermint, and grapefruit in the finish.

Orange gold color. Small white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, touches of orange and dark fruit. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Hops are grapefruity and slightly piney and a touch floral. Orange peel and herbs. Hints of parsley and rosemary? Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a touch of orange peel.

This review is from notes previously taken On tap at Rogue in Portland, OR for RBSG ’04. Nice herbal (french lavender?) element in the taste. Clean finish, fresh herbal aroma. This was very enjoyable
