Brewed with five different malts and a generous amount of flaked maize, “The Monkey” pushes the flavor envelope for this style of golden ale. By using a unique brewing technique, called “first wort hopping”, we achieve a smooth bitterness and slightly fruity hop aroma and a light, smooth, thirst quenching brew. With its golden hue, gentle complexity and white creamy head, Chug Monkey is like sunshine in a glass.

A nice golden amber with a thin white head that dissipates slowly. Aroma is rich and malty, with a touch of apple, inviting a taste. Flavor is thoroughly malty, like a typical lager but fuller and more satisfying, and has a hint of apple cider. Lively, crisp, sassy, and just a little rough going down.

Ok, when you think of cream ales you don't really think of much. And the truth is, they aren't really much. Terrapin does, however, take a mediocre (or worse) style and do something interesting with it. Spike is obviously a fan of hops and this beer is no different. Still, while a light, smooth beer like this could quickly become unbalanced by hops, the beer only has just enough to tease you and still keep the beer balanced. More than I expected.
