A true classic. The original Pecan Nut Brown Ale. The conventional wisdom is that nuts and beer don't mix. Maybe it's something about the water here, and maybe it's just the smooth toasted flavors in Southern Mississippi pecans, but our pecans help make what we consider to be one of the best beers we have ever tasted. We consider pecans to be a perfect addition to this nut brown ale. Smooth and mild with a malty sweetness accentuated by a rich finish. A finely balanced ale destined to become a southern classic.

I picked this beer up from Kroger in Salem, VA. This was a decent brown ale, however, a bit thin for my liking. The nuttiness was present but the beer on the whole felt thin and average.

Pours a hazy mahogany brown with a thin light tan head. Malty aroma has a caramel note and a nutty hint. Mouth-filling nutty, malty, woody flavor has hints of caramel and horehound. Firm-bodied texture delivers a lively, sassy fizz to round out a satisfying beer.

Brown pour with absolutely zero head. Minimal amount of lace. There was a nutty aroma to it however the flavor was a slightly artificial pecan watery mess.

Well it pours the same color of the filling of a pecan pie. The aroma is very powerful from far away. You don't even have to hold it up to your nose to smell the pecans. How ever that is where the good review ends. There is zero taste and it's watery. It doesn't taste bad it just has no taste.

Hazy dark brown with light brown foam head. Aroma is small, nutty and bit sweet. Beer is kind of watery, which affects the taste. Small bitter with some caramel and pecan. Short aftertaste. (Houston 201301)

A bright amber-brown colored beer with a medium sized light beige foamy textured head. Settles into a good sized ringlet. Light nose of some nuttiness. The tasting is burnt malt, nutty and grassy. Light medium bodied with some smoothness.

Meh...a decent nuttyness but on an otherwise cheap yellow sourish grassy American beer. Lots of corn and cardboard behind the pecans, maybe I am just not a nut brown fan?

it's hard to get a natural tasting (and smelling) nuttiness in a beer, but this one pulls it off pretty well. fairly rich (for a brown) malty profile with a nutty backbone, and a slightly sweet, slightly bitter finsih. not bad for the style, especially on a cool day.

I am not a fan of this brewery but pecans are among my favourite nuts so I had to try it. A nice brown pour with a definite pecan aroma. Flavour is slightly sweet, the pecans shine through there as well, with a bitter finish.

    12 oz bottle -

First, a big thank you goes to farginbastige6 for initiating a trade and sending me this beer. To make the trade even better, the beer is really nice! An aroma of an empty sugar bag and light caramel. Flavor has a light malt presense, a nutty kind of flavor but quite restrained with a bitterness that reminds me of..well..pecans. Body is rootbeer brown in color, crystal clear and the head dissipated all too quickly. A sessionable brown ale if there ever was one. I would have liked it a bit more with a little more sweetness to perhaps bring out more of the pecan flavors. Like pumpkin beers can sometimes hit the mark of a great pumpkin pie, this beer might have the potential to hit the pecan pie/pralines flavor profile if brewed for that purpose (obviously which it's not at this point). Still, really a nice sessionable brown ale.
