irish ales never have wow'ed me, so lets see .. . pours a deep amber ruby .. . great foam, lacing is good too .. . light caramel malts and table syrup .. . light mouth .. . good for an irish ale, but i'm just averaged on it .. . . wait? why would you name a beer after a male ice skater??

This doesnt seem like an irish ale or a red ale, but rather an ipa with that marijuana hops flavor that is much like Great Dane Texas Speedbump. If anyone can tell me what that hop combination is please let me know. Great caramel malt, great head. Perfect beer.

On tap @Three Floyds Brewpub on 03-16-2012: Ruby tea brwon pour with a tight cream-colored head, good lacing. Hopped-up aroma for an Irish Red, lots of sweet malts, caramel. Taste is also hoppy Irish Red with a nice earthy bitter, big dose of malts, tasty but overhopped but what would you expect from FFF? I had to try it since is was St. Patrick's Day weekend.

Hoppy per the style, but it's what I expected from Three Floyds. Amber colored body with a thin and lasting head and good lace. Caramel, buttered toast, and citrus hops. Light to medium bodied.

Pours with an amber-red body topped by a thin to medium thick head with some lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and fruity with a slight hop note and a note of tomato sauce. The flavor is slightly sweet and fruity with slihgtsheery notes. Reminds me of a weak barleywine. Meidum to full bodied and smooth.

Pours copperish-amber with short lasting head and good clarity. Aroma boasts pine and tropical fruit and was much more powerful than any other amber I've sampled. Sweet malts balance herbal-citrus hopping in the flavor. Nice clean finish. Light bodied, but satisfying, with ample carbonation.

Sampled from bottle, thanks to ChrisM, amatuerbeerguy & beertracker's trip to dark lord day 2007. Pours hazy amber with a thin, off-white head. It's assertive toasted malt aroma forshadows a complex malt flavor: toasted bread, caramels and toffee. Well-balanced and smooth with a hint of plum. A good example of the style, albeit a bit strong. Quite enjoyable.

Pours a slightly hazed red with a small head. The aroma is full of caramel and toffee malts along with a bit of fruity hops. The flavor is lighter than expected, but still satisfyingly malty.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear amber color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of citrus hops is clearly dominant. Taste is a mix between some sweet malt caramel and some overpowering hops. Seems to me this another one of those 3F recipe where they take a traditional style (Pride & Joy, Robert the Bruce) and drop some major hops on top of it. A bit too one-dimensional for my own taste.

Clear reddish amber with a dense beige head. Caramel, pineapples and flowers in the soft malty aroma. Clean sweet malty and aromatic flavour of caramel, toffee, peaches and caramel. Hop bitter finish. Well balanced ale.
