This unfiltered Bavarian-style ale is a dark, full-bodied version of our popular Nor'Wester Hefe Weizen. This ale was brewed with selected Oregon wheat malt milled at our microbrewery, then slowly cold conditioned after fermentation. Our Dunkel Weizen has a unique and smooth finish distinct from other dark ales and lagers.

Medium brown color. Small head. Aromas are malts, dark fruits and sweetness. A medium bodied dunkel. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch of roastyness. Hops are slightly spicy. Flavors are mostly chocolate and coffee. Nice refreshing dunkel. Touch of banana and clove are hidden in here as well. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Nice dark almost mahogany brown beer..with a good sized tan head..that lingers long. A good strong aroma dominated by chocolate malts..but I do dertect some small wheat sourness..but very light. It has a sort of "thin" taste to it..almost tastes like a weak porter..coffee and chocolate flavours present. Pretty average mouthfeel very watery. Its drinkable but is this really a Dunkleweizen?
