America has always been a melting pot of people, their customs and their beers. By combining two major styles of brewing, ale and lager, a beer unique to this country was born. The Cream Ale. Handcrafted using five types of malt and a generous amount of flaked maize, the Terrapin Cream Ale is our attempt to revive this classic American beer. It achieves its smoothness and drinkability by using an innovative brewing process known as "First Wort Hopping". With its golden hue, gentle complexity and white, creamy head, Terrapin Cream Ale is like sunshine in a glass.

Clearly a session, Summer style beer IMO, one that would be best served up with a round of ribs, a shimmering blue pool and about 95 degrees. Instead, it’s steel gray skies, February, cold and having a grilled cheese sammy. Ah well. The beer pours out a medium amber color, clear with a 1/2" off-white head that melts pretty quickly. Little to no carbonation bubbles present. Aroma starts out bready/yeasty with a light malty/fruity note. Flavor has some bready, peppery, with some wet paper-like flavor. Finish was a little dull, with a lingering mineral like flavor.

Looks like a pale lager but it has some very interesting precipitants in there. Little flecks of stuff that neither floats nor sinks, just hanging out in there. Slightly bitter but acceptable for an ale. Comes across almost like a bitter pilsner of sorts. On the taste and on the finish. TGA S4L3F3T5010

Bottle labeled as Golden Ale. Golden colored, not much head or lacing. Aroma is of sweet fruits, a little grainy and wheaty. Smooth, sweet, citrus fruity flavor with some hops and very refreshing. Light-bodied and clean. Resembles a nice summer wheat beer. Nothing outstanding but I thought it was pretty good.

Bottle courtesy of Unclemattie: Poured a golden color ale with a big foamy head with good retention and medium lacing. Aroma of sweet malt is dominant and somewhat enjoyable. Taste is a mix between sweet malt with some grassy notes. Overall, I thought this was well done but not very complex – a good session brew.

The color is golden and clear. Taste is nice, with fruity undertones and hardly any bitterness. Texture is smooth and simple. This is a beer more for drinking with lunch or dinner, or while watching a sporting event or yapping at a party, than for serious enjoyment; still it is a decent brew. Terrapin has yet to disappoint me.

This golden/blond ale pours a light gold color from a 12oz bottle. Medium sized white foamy head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, and a touch bready. A medium to light bodied golden ale. Malts are fruity and sweet, touch bready. Hops are spicy. Kind of sweet and a little grassy. Light and refreshing. A touch thin and perhaps a little watery. Mouthfeel is a touch thin. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.

This brew pours a slightly golden colour with a small white head. Hint of grapefruit and other citrus fruits in the initial taste. Aroma is of grain and lightly roasted malts. Finishes slightly dry with soft hop character.

Pale golden colour, small white head. Vegetables, hops and caramel in the nose. Flavour is quite watery, but has some hops, citrus and grassyness in it. Not too good...

Pale golden with little head. Malty aroma but very subdued. Light citrusy taste with some rye. Not bad for a thirst quencher, but not a substantial beer.

This beer is now called "Golden Ale" instead of "Cream Ale". Not the most interesting beer out there but it is a decent ale. Golden color with a small creamy white head...creamy smooth mouthfeel. A little hoppy but no flavors stick out. On a hot day, this might not be that bad. But keep it cold...don't let it get even close to room temp.
